I know you all are anxious to hear how everything went last weekend, I'm sorry it took so long to tell you about it. Once the events were over I had to go back to work as usual, but work wasn't usual! I've been busy! That's a good thing too...

Friday began with Mickey Jones and Bubba Baker being interviewed at 95.7 WHOG the Hog along with Reuben The Lounge Lizard, a local guitarist. I had never been in a radio studio before so I was looking forward to seeing how things worked there.

Mickey and Bubba chatting before going on air.

It isn't anything like WKRP was on TV. I guess that's what I always imagined when I listen to the radio. They have a big picture window, no turntables, no lines of records and cds lined up along the wall. You know, I just realized that. I guess everything is programed into the computer now.

Mickey, Bubba, Rock Hartley and the DJs Frank Scott and Tracy Dillion began to talk about different things along with our Bikes and Blues ride and the Golf Classic. They discussed our route, how many bikes we were expecting, our "air support" and praying the Golf Classic wouldn't be washed out. Mickey also made sure to thank all our sponsors by name.

(I love the look Bubba is giving Mickey in this shot!)

Mickey was in the movie Tin Cup and sang a song called Double Bogey Blues, "the only song in the movie youwill hear all the way through" and Mickey comes to town and does the AM show he and Reuben play guitar and he sings this song. This time Mickey decided to do something a little different, a song about Oreo Cookies, it was quite funny.

We spent an hour there and we got the word out about the benefits, Mickey told some stories about commercials he's been in, and other "characters" he played, some I didn't even realize. It was a neat morning, lots of laughs, lots of people coming in to say hi. I really enjoyed it.

After we went back to Rocks house to take care of phone calls and messages, Mickey was going to take a nap... Big Mike Griffen got there with his girl Emilie, drummer and guitarist, poor Mickey didn't get a nap, but Rock and I did get a little work done. Then Mickey was whisked off to meet with a producer, I went home to rest for the VIP Party later Friday evening. I'll leave you now with more photo's from the studio. See you all at the VIP Party!

Lysa, so glad to see you've started to fill us in.  This looks like a lot of fun.  I even laughed at the WKRP in Cincinatti thing.  Gee we're getting on in years!  I can't wait for the continuation.  Keep 'em coming!

Maggie lol! Yep good ole WKRP! Thats what I envision when I listen to the radio anymore having never been in a studio before last Friday. We did have a super time there. I'll try to get everyone caught up by the end of the weekend, but I have company arriving tomorrow so we'll see!
