Carmel Valley, CA (Monterey County) is rapidly becoming a popular destination for wine tours and tasting. The great weather - lots of sunshine is good for the grapes and tourists alike.
 
Chateau Julien, Carmel ValleyThis winery is located about 6 miles from Highway 1, near Carmel. There is a wine tasting room as well as tours (make a reservation). The Chateau Julien usually has several nice functions each year including a local Chamber of Commerce Mixer.


Bernardus Lodge and Winery, Carmel Valley, CABernardus Lodge & Winery - is another well known winery in Carmel Valley. Stop at the tasting room or stay over night at the Lodge.

Karen, that's interesting about Virginia becoming a major wine producer also - I had no idea. But hey, California has the weather - especially Carmel Valley!
