Touch the Sea... At Mystic Aquarium

Mystic Aquarium & Institute For Exploration

I must say, when I travel to other cities with aquariums and I have to choose what it is I will be doing on my trip, I tend to put the aquarium of that destination on the bottom of my list... Because I live so close to the Mystic Aquarium and I haven't seen another one that even compares to it.

What I think I like most about the Mystic Aquarium is that there are hands-on exhibits. Hence the name Institute For Exploration. The excitement of being involved with the sea creatures is, well, just plain fun!

There are programs such as:

A Beluga Whale encounter
A Penguin encounter
A Sea Ray feeding and encounter

The highlight here would have to be the Sea Lion Show.

The three stars of this show are the sea lions named Coco, Surfer, and Boomerang. The trainers have skillfully worked to show the intelligence of these wonderful animals. I have seen this show numerous times with my kids and always enjoy the comical ways of the stars of the show.

There are at least 3 sea lion show a day here. Planning a visit around a showtime is wise, in my opinion.

Then of course are the wonderful penguins of this aquarium - who are also very peculiar and comical to watch.

The Mystic Aquarium is open year round. Yes, even the penguins do just fine in the heat of summer here.

Another one of my favorite things here is.... I LOVE to watch the Seahorses! Their grace and beauty fascinate me. I could watch them for hours.

There is so much here to enjoy!

What a great post! How could you not love nature's animals? If I'm in your area I'm going. Thank you so much!

Aquarium are a "must see" for me also. I especially like visiting Sea World in Orlando to see all the animals. Visiting zoos are fun too, but I prefer the aquariums.
