Nancy K. Perry Children's Shelter

This post is hard for me to write. Not because of asking the Active Rain Community as a whole for help but because it reminds me that Mom isn't here with me. I know she is watching over our every move and hugging her grandchildren through my arms! Every kiss I give dad has her loving touch.

Mrs Nancy K Perry and the Resolution from the South Carolina General assembly.

I delivered a ton of clothing to the Children's Shelter yesterday. Revisiting childhood memories and memories in general and I was overwhelmed. I thought "what can I do to even make a small impact and carry on the huge legacy of my mother?" Idea...I can blog it all over the Internet!

My Acquire Real Estate office here in Columbia South Carolina is making a yearly donation to the Children's Shelter from every closing. A percentage of our net will be sent to help these children that desperately need our support. But Christmas time is when we really need your help. So many gifts to buy to make a childs heart sing on Christmas Morning.

What can someone like you do to help? EVERYTHING HELPS!

If you are interested in donating in-kind goods or services (Wish List), by volunteering your time, by getting your organization or club to sponsor a fundraiser or invite a speaker, please click Here, or go to the Volunteer Page, or just call us at 803-359-8595.

You can help by providing tax deductible donations no matter how small ($5.00). Your donation will mean the world to a child who finally has blessings to count. Donations can also be mailed to Post Office Box 344, Lexington, SC 29071 or, can be sent through the Internet via PayPal using any bank card.

We have two funds which receive donations; (1) The Operating Fund is made up of unrestricted gifts and is used for day-to-day operations of the Shelter, and (2) the Nancy K. Perry Endowment which is our long term investment to provide for financial security for the Shelter in the future and is controlled by the Board of Trustees. If you do not designate which fund you wish to contribute to, the funds will be deposited in the operating account .

Click here to view the principles of the shelter.

Donations provide food, clothing, and a loving, home-like environment. Operating Fund gifts are unrestricted allowing The Shelter to use the funds where they are most needed. For more information, click here.

This fund was begun in 2002 as a way to ensure the permanency and financial security of the Shelter in the future. The fund has long term investments managed by the Board of Trustee in various financial instruments to maximum growth potential while minimizing risk. Principle, dividends, or interest from this Fund may not be spent without unanimous support of the Board of Trustees.

Do you ever think about how you want to be remembered? Have you considered ways to continue helping the causes important to you for generations to come? Let us help you find a way to donate that will meet your personal objectives. Click here.

Laura, Nothing yanks at my heart more than kids needing some hope at Christmas. Something to open from someone who cares is a great start, Thank-you

Hello There! I am a young woman who seeks to contribute to my community. I can't seem to find shelters I can volunteer at (such as feed the homeless especially during holidays) in my local area. I came across your website and love how you contribute to your county. Please let me know if you can, anybody can, help me with my research. I would love to give all the help I can especially on holidays. My e-mail is RoseLobrino@yahoo.com

=)

Thank you.
