Earlier this week I did a post about Elderberry Court here in Celebration.  At the time I started I thought that I would have many streets to choose from for Celebration.  I live in Florida -- there has to be a Lemon, Lime, Pinapple streets.  NOT!  There was only Elderberry Court in Celebration.

So what to do with this really neat idea?  Let it die?  No!  How about a neat way to get some newer members here a chance to get some exposure here at Active Rain.   Also a way to break the writers block and share your community with us!

Want to take a challenge?  Do you have a street with one of our verification fruits?  You are half way there!   Now go out and take a photo of the street sign and the houses on the street.  Write about it, post it and freely put your link in this post and place it in the Active Rain Fruit Group

Using my post as a base, go out and find a street with one of the famous fruit, and come back here and write a little bit about the street and include the street sign in the post.

Are you not sure of the fruits and vegetables to pick of for this task?  Here is the list.

I look forward to seeing what creativity that will appear!  Hopefully this will inspire a few of you to start writing local posts!  Don't worry if somone has done a fruit already, we will put multiple entries -- that is why each is listed by city!

And a special category for multiple fruits

Points will be awarded to posts posted until April 27, 2007.

LOL I got this one in the BAG!  There is a development here in Syracuse that all the streets are named after fruits.  I know I have a bunch of them... I will head out with my camera tomorrow.  I just sold my parents a house on Gooseberry!

I sold a house on Cherry Chapel Road and will go take picture of the street sign.

Please let Monika use Cranberry. It is a fruit and not her fault that it was not included.

Cute idea Colleen!

You're on, Colleen. I know several right off the bat. Question is...which one? And how far do I want to drive? intriguing idea. You are awesome.

And I got my new camera today too. Great excuse for practice.

Aw-w-w, I've been accusing the AR Gods of age descrimination because I keep getting the ELDERberry! Wish it were trees, because we have LOTS of streets named for trees!

Colleen - great idea - did some research and looks like and found lots in this area . I will try to work on this challenge over the next week. Unfortunately my day job is taking up too much time (lol) Thanks for the inspiration - we'll see what comes.

P.S. Elderberry is the ONLY "berry" street name I could find in clearwater, palm harbor, ozona, safety harbor and North Pinellas County (no blackberry, blueberry, strawberry) - Lakeland will probably take care of strawberry since it's the strawberry capital!

Sweet Miss Colleen - you come up with the cleverest ideas and posts!  I have to say that we are pretty much fruit-less here in my areas of coastal New Hampshire.  I'll double check, but I can't come up with any streets with our Active Rain fruits and veggies names at all.  Weird, but if I do, I'll be sure to post them.

Hey Colleen, put me down for Strawberry, I took pictures at Strawberry Point which is where we keep our plane...but the camera was set for video and I am not sure I can retrive the stills. If not I will take another drive.

Wonderful response to your creative idea!

Opps there is was an  "X" instead of a fruit graphic. All better...blueberry.

Funny you should ask, I was driving around Celebration today with another Realtor and was talking about how this area has become home...  I miss the beach, but for the most part, nothing else.   If you do head to Marco, Wild Cherry is in Hideaway Beach behind gates, call me and I can tell you how to get in...

the litterColleen, I won't make it there anytime soon.  We only have a few weeks of school left.  I have three seniors in Estero High School.  I am pulled from one event to another.  (Scholarsip Prayer)  That + work, I can barely breath.  Today is prom.  They are all so pretty dressed up.

The short boy and the girl are my twins.  The tall one is Dan.  I am not his biological mother, but I punish him as if i was. ;)  The worst thing that could have happened is 2 year old boy/girl twins moved in next door.  I sobbed for 20 minutes after I met them.  It seems like yesterday I had my twins and now they're graduating high school.  I think I'm going to need some tissue May 14.  (I hope you don't mind the picture - delete the post if you do - but its the best thing that happened to me all week, and that dress was a car payment, baby!)

Chris,

Colleen  wouldn't dare delete this magnificent picture of these gorgeous high school kids. (If she does, post them on any of my comments). What a beautiful set of twins and their "brother". Hope they will always be as happy as they look tonight! The dress is adorable and well worth the car payment!!

In Northern San Rafael, California we have streets that have fruit names, but not real fruits, like Appleberry. Flaxberry, Idylberry, Flaxberry, Danberry, Greenberry, Kernberry and Cedarberry.  Do those count?
