"Let us resolve not to become the negative party, too eager to find fault or unwilling to help in this time of crisis and war. Losing an election does not have to mean losing our way, and for governors, the way forward leads through our own state capitals in reforms we will carry on or begin anew." - the words of Sarah Palin at the Republican Governors' meeting in Florida today.

To say this lady "gets it" is an understatement in the extreme. It is a shame that she was overcoached by the McCain camp and wasn't allowed to simply be herself. We might be looking at a different political landscape right now if that had been allowed to happen.

"As far as we're concerned, the past is the past, it's behind us. And I, like all of our governors, we're focused on the future. And the future for us is not that 2012 presidential race. It's next year, and our next budgets and the next reforms in our states, and it's 2010 when we'll have 36 governors' positions open across the U.S."

And I think the Republican party is starting to understand what it is they have in Sarah Palin - as Texas Governor Rick Perry said in his introduction of her - "I can assure you, she's just getting started."

I can't believe how they shoved a sock that far down her throat!  They quite possibly could have won if they didn't do that!

Renee - I'm not sure the McCain camp truly understood the power of Sarah Palin had she be allowed to BE Sarah Palin.

[sarcasm on]

riiiight... that's her problem... she was overcoached by McCain's marketing machine.

I'm sure now, that she's clear of the machine, and the "gotcha journalism" of the liberal media and their agenda also too, we'll be able to see and grasp the true Sarah Palin.

I'm looking forward to it.

It's just too bad they lynched her in the media who tried to do the same thing to Hillary when Hillary was running against Obama. I want to see more strong and accomplished women ascend --- from both parties. Other countries seem to be ahead of the U.S. in recognizing women as leaders (Margaret Thatcher, Golda Meir --- two of my favorites).

Jane and Alan - clearly you didn't see her speak at GOP McCain rallies when she went - as the McCain camp said - "Off message". The crowds went wild! She resonates with ordinary Americans because they see themselves in her. Just wait and watch and see. Oh and clearly you did not just spend the required 22 minutes to watch the speech I provided you with.

Pacita - She is certainly a leader in our future. Time will tell.

Simon, it's true, I didn't listen to the entire 22 minutes (although I did waste around 5 minutes of my life).

I don't disagree, that she's an excellent speaker, and can get a crowd truly worked up.  She's terrific when scripted (Inna's correct.. props to the speechwriter), and far less so when off script.  I just don't see "overcoaching" as her problem.

I also don't disagree that we haven't seen the last of Sarah Palin, and I hope she decides to run in 2012.  And please note, for those who accuse the "liberal biased media" of slanted coverage that the posted video was courtesy of msnbc.

Simon - She is the man.  I mean... , well you know.  The press conference was also telling of the new direction, united and committed to Republican ideals.  I don't think I have ever been so excited after losing an election. (of course I'm in my 40's, so I've only lost a couple presidentials.)

Bill - well apart from the pesky speech that is above if you can be bothered to watch.

Inna - nice move! Somehow I doubt she had anyone do that. I think she is probably sick of it.

Alan - the video could have been taken from anywhere - but talking of the bias of MSNBC (soon to become known as "State Channel One") I guess you've seen their new slogan? No? I'ts The Power of Change. Hmmm...I know I;'ve heard that somewhere before.........

Joe - while they continue to attack her, we know she's doing a great job. The latest attack says she's a wolf murderer!! I kid you not.

1) Environmentalists say we can't drill for oil in Alaska because it will hurt the caribou.
2) Sarah Palin says that it's not drilling that's killing caribou--it's the wolves that keep eating them.
3) Sarah Palin authorizes thinning the herd of wolves, to protect the caribou.
4) Environmentalists say Palin is a vicious murderer for killing all those wolves.
5) Sarah Palin's plan actually works to save caribou.
6) Sarah Palin is still the one who is called stupid.

According to biologists with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game:

Link

As ugly and as politically incorrect as the wolf killing might seem to some, they said, the helicopter gunning that took place earlier this year saved caribou, especially young caribou, from being eaten alive.

Fall surveys of the Southern Alaska Peninsula caribou herd completed in October found an average of 39 calves per 100 cows. That's a dramatic improvement from fall counts of only 1 calf per 100 cows in 2006 and 2007.

What politician hasn't had speechwriters? What is so wrong with someone writing Palin's speech? Does one really think that with all these people have to do that they have time to write their own speeches? They can edit and add their own thoughts into raw content, but it certainly helps to have the drafts made for them.

Even Obama has them. Jon Favreau, is one of the major speech writers, who leads a team.

"Obama contributes much to his speeches. He has a small team of speechwriters headed by Jon Favreau, a 27-year-old jeans-clad staffer, who earlier this year described his role to Newsweek thus: 'What I do is I sit with him for half an hour. He talks and I type everything he says. I reshape it, I write. He writes, he reshapes it. That's how we get the finished product.'

Others may have contributed to Obama's acceptance speech. Englishman Jacob Rigg, 27, claims to have had a hand via phone, email and video conferences from his flat in Notting Hill, west London."

There was one Democrat who personally wrote and delivered a beautiful speech at the end of a long campaign--- and that was Al Gore. That speech was truly touching and written from the heart.

I'd trade Palin for our Rino Schwartzenegger in a heartbeat. I've had it with slick and slicker - give me someone with honest to God character, principles and a little knowledge. Our buffoon is proposing even more taxes for the state becasue the budget he just signed 3 weeks ago is already under water by billions. And our Dem. legislature won't cut spending, or drill off-shore, or explore nuclear, or put up more wind turbines or... Go Sarah!

As her speech started one newscaster in the area said "What's the deal with her hair?" Nothing about the message.

I have said it before, I am looking forward to the next wave, Palin, Jindal, Huckabee, Romney, Evans, Pence and those yet to be named. I hope that a new Gingrich can be found in the next 2 years to help the recovery.

How hard it must be for Sarah to talk out of the other side of face? I guess its not the first time she's flipped flopped, bridge to nowhere anyone?

From "wealth spreader, socialist, palls around with terrorists" to "we need to work together"

Its going to take more than a few words to convince anyone that she's sincere.

She is one classy and smart woman.  Saw her on Fox with Gretta for two nights.

Very impressive...............not afraid to tell it like it is which is a breath of fresh air.

I agree 100% with you Simon. It's too bad the liberals can't see the truth. Of course, they pretty much hate anyone who disagrees with them especially on certain issues.

Good speech. She has class. I sense this was largely written by her.

Hugh, I am with you. Huckabee and Palin would have my vote.

Simon ~ With tears, this woman has so much class and wisdom and executive experience, it is a shame she is not going to the White House, but instead we have the most inexperienced empty suit that will ever hold the office of President of the United States. And in this, the liberals are rejoicing, this is what baffles me. Very intelligent people, who can't explain why they voted for such a man, but never can say what his experience is, oh but a community organizer he was.

Let's see... the MOST POPULAR Governor in the country.  Three guys from the LEAST POPULAR governing body in the country.  Had it not been for the press being in the tank for Obama, I think somebody might have noticed that Palin IS actually a change.

Huckabee/Palin 2012...  Huckabee gets the top billing because he is for the FairTax.

I love Sara; she's great!  Did anyone see the Conan show the other night? William Shatner was reading portions of her book, then she came out and read some of his. It was quite funny!

I reiterate...I love Sara; she's great and a great sport!
