Day 8 started out dark, wet and gloomy. The damp cut right to the bones. A day to stay snuggled under the covers with a good book. But then I remembered I had something important to do . . . I was to escort the committee from the Humane Society on a tour of all the available properties for sale or lease in the vicinity.
Our local shelter is currently housed in rented facilities measuring 850 sq ft with faulty air and heating systems. Now this is a 'No Kill' shelter and in desperate need of new space as they are overrun with cats and kittens. The dogs have to be fostered out at expensive per diem rates.

The good news is they just received a wonderful grant which allows them the opportunity to move to a new home and today they were deciding whether to purchase land and custom build, purchase an existing building or find a new property to lease.
Today I was honoured to provide them a tour all available properties in the area and answer the many questions that came with each. Monday will be the day for the final decision but it felt so good to be able to assist them on such an important quest today.
Day 9 tomorrow - what will be in store do you think? I don't know but what I do know is that I'll be smiling when I retire to bed just like I am right now!
See you tomorrrow,
