Thoughts On Being Twaddicted

Are You Twaddicted?

twitterTwaddicted? What on earth is she talking about??  Why, being addicted to Twitter, of course!

Now, I'm not saying that Twitter is a bad thing.  I'm not saying that you shouldn't hang out on Twitter.  I mean, even the guys behind the scenes at Active Rain have come over to the dark side.  (Sorry, Star Wars reference for those of you confused, but I digress.)

Twitter is a wonderful social networking application which is absolutely phenomenal for making connections, for actually becoming real to others and to see the "real side" of your contacts there.  It is an awesome place to develop partnerships, build your client list, and make friends.

And it is addictive.

You see, for a short while today, I got an error message on the system I use to play in Twitterland, called Tweetdeck.  I couldn't send any messages, called Tweets.  I coudn't receive any messages from my followers, called Twits (believe it or not) or Twitterers.  The error message said this:

"Don't Panic. Twitter is having a problem but will be back soon!"

"Don't Panic," they said.  Don't panic? Don't panic?? It was painfully obvious after 10 minutes that I'm Twaddicted. I started switching to other services to try and use them instead of Tweetdeck. I went to Twhirl then to the Twitter.com website itself.  Instead of moving on and doing some work (gasp!) I sat here wondering how on earth I was going to get back onto Twitter. Refresh. Wait. Refresh. Wait. Repeat. Until it finally came back and I could hear the heavens rejoicing and the angels singing at my back the "Hallelujah Chorus."  It's back!  It's back!

I'm Twaddicted.  Are you?  Did you feel my pain this afternoon?

We have never become addicted to Twitter. Seems to work for some but not sure we can add any more electronic networking and still sleep. LOL

I too missed Twitter this afternoon ... especially because I was trying to help someone get set up on Twitter. Twitter is always in my Twitbin and/or my TweetDeck and I LOVE what I learn on Twitter!

Real cute Renae...lol.  I think we are more than addicted to Twitter.  We are addicted to being involved in this great technological advancement. For probably the first time many of us caught the wave before it passed by.  Just a thought...

Georgina - It was just down for a short period of time!

Brad & Angela - You're right! We always need to remember to take a break.

Bob & Carolin - Didn't you hear that sleep was overrated?? LOL

Connie - There's always something else one can be doing, isn't there?

Susie - I'm with you! Twitter is an awesome resource. Friends, contacts, and business to be had! You just can't beat that!

Charles - Active Rain is EXTREMELY addictive! You could sit here reading and responding to blogs all day long. Twitter is somehow worse (if that's even possible) as people respond to you almost immediately. Scary, huh? LOL

Ced - I'm ridin' the wave and loving every minute of it! I'm a technology FIEND!

Tony - So true! This was my first time experiencing Twitter being down so it was very stressful! LOL  I couldn't talk to anyone and it was awful! So glad it is back up. And you're right, the relationships are definitely priceless!

Seriously everybody, this post was more in jest of myself than a serious reflection! I was just joking around. Trust me that I don't sit around all day on Twitter chatting.  If that were the case, I'd need some bon-bons and a few good soap operas to add to the mix to make it perfect!  That's sooo not me! But Twitter IS a great resource and I've developed some awesome joint-venture partners, Power Partners, clients, and friends from Twitter.  You just can't beat that!
