In the 59th Chapter of Isaiah, the Nation of Judah, is given a full digest of sins, and great warnings about their destructiveness and how they caused a separation between them and God.  Yet the full text of Isaiah is a call to the people of Judah to know that God's salvation was at hand through the Messiah.

Do you feel this salvation?  I certainly do; isn't it great to be a Christians, who happen to be Realtors who can (i.e., have the ability to) use our faith and conviction to do the right thing, each time?

Isaiah is the first of the writings of the prophets to appear in the bible, and even though Isaiah is considered to be the greatest among the prophets, his fate was not unexpected.  He was famously popular in the beginning of his ministry, but his messages were difficult to hear because he called on the people to turn away from sin, just as he warned them of the judgment and punishment God afforded sinners.  Isaiah's prophetic ministry lasted 60 years before he was executed, and as historical documents suggest, his death was a violent martyrdom.  One reference suggests he was "sawn in two."

I'm not saying we have to walk in any fashion like Isaiah, but think about what it means to be a Christian Realtor...really!

8 Comments on I Couldn't Resist Mentioning the Hero of Christian Realtors!

Terry,

It's interesting Isaiah's messianic references are left out of the Torah readings through the year. Another hero I like is Paul. I'm more of a "Mars Hill" kinda guy. I like to tell the philosophersabout their unknown god. I also enjoy the going into synagogues (sometimes churches) and reasoning with them out of the scriptures. Mostly I Paul's tenacity. I think if we approach our businesses like Isaiah and Paul we would all succeed. Fortunately I have a group of Christian Realtors in this area to chat with and keep each other focused on what really matters. It's easy to get distracted.

Hi Larry -- thanks for your comment.  We love Paul as well, and his tenacity is plainly AWESOME.  Glad you have some peers to share the good news with in your work environment as well.  God bless you, and go easy on the philosophizing.

Terry,

LOL, I talk to the philosophers, not become one of them.

Hi Larry -- my hubby, Dr. John, wanted me to ask you if you knew the Italian philosopher/political activist, Nicollo Machiavelli.  One of our favorite quotes of his that John has used in a sermon is: "There is nothing more difficult to take in hand, more perilous to conduct, or more uncertain in its success than to take the lead in a new order of things."  God bless you!

Terry,

I know the name but truthfully don't know much more about him. I like the quote. I can relate. Actually I don't try to start new things. I'm pretty happy with the bible as it stands. However, sometimes standing on the truth and simplicity of scripture stirs up the religious. I believe it works that way in the business world too. I don't think I'll ever forget how viciously I was attacked for trying to be positive about the market.

My wife and I are leading a growth group at our church. We're studying the book "If you want to walk on water, you've got to get out of the boat" We have a really sweet group but I can see, half way through the study, how difficult it is for people to step out of their area of comfort. I think that's why I enjoy your posts and a few others like Loreena Yeo. "Iron sharpens iron. So a man (or woman) sharpens the countenance of his friend"

Hi Larry -- thank you, and your growth group is reaching into some of the most treacherous of waters: letting go!  May God be with you and your wife.  God had His Hand on you, and I'm sure it's His steady right hand.  I, too, like Loreen's posts, and she and I have had the opportunity to share on a number of matters.  Very cool you linked Loreena and I in your comment.  God bless you!

Imagine, Alex, the sacrifice all who have paved the way have made for us...in obedience to Him!  Now that's a Dr. John type of response.  God bless you!
