No need to wait for the
Macy's
Thanksgiving Day Parade
any longer.
Santa Claus has already come to town.
He is in malls across America as of November 11th, 2008.
When I was a kid, a sighting of Santa would never have been until the very end of that spectacular Macy's Day parade in New York City.
I have memories of watching the TV on Thanksgiving Day, waiting patiently until the end of this parade... To watch this jolly old elf ride up in his sleigh, pulled by Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen.... You know the rest. I'd get butterflies in my stomach when I saw him. To me, it meant that the Christmas season was OFFICIAL here!
Times have changed for he is an early bird now.
Well, what the heck... We might as well jump on into the early to the festivities. (Yes... I admit, I do love Christmastime).

I think the rule should be we don't start celebrating the next holiday until the day after the previous one.....meaning we shouldn't even be thinking about xmas until the day after Turkey day...but that is my opinion...the businesses know xmas sells so for them the earlier the head start the better. They were already setting up the xmas displays at the mall near me last week....I am ignoring them and reveling in the pumpkin spice smells and thinking about what kind of green bean casserole I will make this year.
