I like it, I like it. At my company we have a "Vision and Values" statement and whatever we do is checked against it. This is a great statement of core values.

Excellent statement. This post needs to be bumped to the featured deaprtment regularly to make sure everyone has a chance to learn and measure their activity.

ActiveRain gang, I am happy Jon posted a gentle reminder to come check this out again. For me it was my first time as I missed it the first time around. The above shows your commitment to always be above board in the way things at ActiveRain are handled. Integrity. Excellent!

These are a set of good principles established by a Network with vision and insight in the real estate profession. Although dissenting or contrarian points of view are encouraged, I hope the AR team exercises wisdom in discerning why the points are being made and the methods used in making them. Consider the sources and their motives.

I lot more people should take the first step and read what AR is all about. I find that it is pleasant to read some of the bloggers stories, but I believe that those stories are not meant to be on AR. Too bad you have such a narrow view of what may "expand my horizon". You may not realize it, but real estate professionals work on all kinds of levels, including the very esoteric. You may not agree, but that does not mean it (free expression of ideas and thoughts) should be avoided here on AR. Therefore, I commend the people who are willing to expose very personal experiences in order that others can benefit from them.

Thank you Paula, you saved me from commenting on that comment!!! I could not agree with you more on how we learn in AR and daily life and it is not always stories about clients and a problem. The friends I have made on here and read often have great insights into life itself and daily issues which makes us better Realtors and people.

Active Rain has influenced the way I perceive and interact with my local peers! While today is the first time I've seen this, I've been able to pick up on a number of these values from positive influences here in the Rain! Isn't it nice to know you're improving the real estate world beyond the blogosphere?!

Active Rain has brought out a lot in me - not just blogging and speaking up, but generosity. I see it so much here in so many ways that it makes me want to give back and reach out to people who might need help.

I think this is all a joke. I think letting ill informed consumers leave blogs about certain corporations or companies that are completely falsified is ridiculous. There's a difference between free speech and lying. If you are going to have a legitimate website for consumer's to visit to get proper information about certain things then maybe you should do your job and actually contact these companies that are being slandered... just a thought.

This is great. I'm still learning and this is a great introduction of expectations and responsibilities of the site.

I know most on here are residential real estate professionals; please don't forget us that deal exclusively in commercial and investment properties. Not nearly as sentimental, but vital to the success of all markets.

Also, duplicate content can be detrimental to both the collective ranking of our network and the corresponding ranking of the member who posts duplicate content over and over again.

I had joined ActiveRain a while back, but never took the time to search the site much. It was a grey, foggy day here in Scottsdale, AZ - a rarity - so I decided to look at this site some more. I'm very impressed and learned a lot in the few hours I was able to spend. Thank you for a great site with great information from all across the country. Our underlying premise and passion behind all that we do is to offer our members meaningful tools that help to enhance and improve their business. Most of us have a background in real estate. I'm a licensed agent here in WA. So we understand the challenges and needs of today's RE professionals.

I hope you all don't mind a little "Canadian" perspective. I grew up in the States so I'm fortunate to see two sides of the story...U.S. practices vs. Canadian practices. There are pros and cons to each but the system in Canada is extremely sensible and sound...both in lending and in real estate practices. I sincerely hope we never see again what has happened in the U.S. market these past few years. Do these problems always originate with a "greed factor?" I invite all comments and God Bless the U.S.A.!

Keith: We welcome a perspective from our neighbors to the North. We are so thankful to have so many members in our community from Canada! Greed certainly does pay into it much of the time. Lack of proper meaningful regulation as well. Let's hope things can get turned around soon!

I would humbly add that we bring much more than market expertise. The PROCESS is still a very difficult one for many people.

Besides showing my age, it makes me think that if Active Rain does not insitutionalize itself like NAR or realtor.com, it becomes a unique force that exist because the sum of the parts is greater than the whole. Since when are you allowed to link to other promotional sites and stuff and toss around your own fluff when commenting on someone else's blog post. In very poor taste....AR, do you ever plan to enforce your utopian rules for the benefit of those who comply with them?
