Our big oaks along Alum Creek in Bastrop County Texas

Every day I drive by some of the most beautiful old oak trees that have been growing along side Alum Creek  TX for more years than I have been on this planet!  These trees are so stately looking from the road I have to suppress the urge to stop the car, hop the fence, and to get a closer look.  One of the trees has what we used to  called a hobbit hole when I was a child. Looking at this particular oak I realize that my imagination is still alive and kicking and given time could be as vivid as it was back then.

Texas has some magnificent and very historic oak trees through out the state.  They say the best way for a big tree to survive in Texas is to have something important happen within close proximity to it.  There are a few large oaks that are "in the road" trees that have been saved by local municipalities.  Smithville TX has a couple and by the way the last movie filmed there was called Tree of Life with Brad Pitt and Sean Penn and it's signature tree was an oak!

How fun! Think of the history that has been made underneath, around, near these old trees. The stories they could tell. Thanks for sharing such beautiful photos.

Thanks Debbie and Gita, the oaks are  inspiring  to me for clinging on to the Creek side from sapling to stately.  Exactly what I am  trying to do in my real estate business!

Our hearts and prayers go out to the business and people of Alum Creek.  I am glad to hear that your office made it through these tough times.  If there is anything we can do for you guys or any other business there, please have them contact us.  We hope these beautiful trees made it through the fire.

Thanks Tim and Sheryl.  These trees were down on Ponderosa Road on Alum Creek and the fire shifted east when it jumped the highway  missing them.
