I just read an interesting post about YouTube.  It was written by a service provider who was kind enough to share some valuable info on YouTube's reach (or potential reach).  Like all good "salespeople", this blog poster gave something of value before expecting me to become a customer.

That blog post reminded me of one of the most critical functions in business (something I love to share as a business coach) when you're using more than one marketing campaign.  In other words, if you're using YouTube, newspaper, blogs, email blasts, etc., you need to perform this one critical function to know what's working and what's not working so you know where to spend your money, time and energy.

That critical function is to measure and test each individual campaign.  Sounds simple.  Keep it simple.  Please read (or reread) my earlier blog on this point: Measure and Test.  Don't waste a penny of your money or a calorie of your energy on something that doesn't work...and if you don't measure and test, you'll never really know what that is!

You definitely need to know if your marketing dollars are working or not.  Otherwise you are just throwing money away.

Well said.  I think I am "measuring and testing", just didn't have such a succinct description.  Good words to keep in mind.
