I just posted a blog about Measuring and Testing your marketing.  You can see it here it you're interested: Measure and Test.  What made me laugh was when I used the AR spell check function, the following work came back as misspelled: "blog".

Technology is our friend to be sure, but our world is constantly evolving and changing.  It's never enough to "just maintain".  As has been said by many excellent philosophers, coaches and business gurus, you're either moving ahead or falling behind!  Funny how something so small, like a spell check issue, can bring such wonderful reminders of success to the mind.  Today, I'm moving ahead!

One final thought (I know, this is a bit random)...Jim Rohn said if you don't like where you are now, MOVE...you're not a tree.

I thought your earlier post was thought-provoking, but I believe this one might actually be more so.  We need to move every day.  Eat a toad first, then get on with the rest.  Just do something that puts you out of your comfort zone. Then the rest seems like a breeze.

Well said Don!  Brian Tracy wrote a fantastic book about Eat that Frog for Breakfast...do the most important and least desired thing first and the rest of the day, as you said, is a breeze.  Thanks for the feedback!

If you're not reviewing the results of your effort, you would not know where to spend your time and money.

I love Jim Rohn, I listen and read his material all the time. I agree we all have the power of choice. A good book that I just read is called Success is a Choice, by Rick Pitino.

I always found that a little funny, the spell check for blog.  I agree with your point here.  I'm just finishing up my e-PRO course, and some of the info there is out dated!  Yikes.

Jason,

A better spell check is ie spell check. You can find it at http://www.iespell.com/ . Look in the left column for "Download". I would have linked right to the download page but I think a person should read the authors plea to support his/her invention.

The other word spellcheck doesn't get is "internet".  Same with Microsoft Word.  For some reason, the word internet doesn't exist.  Blog is a newer word stemming from weblog.  But I doubt that would pass as well.  I think the words come from the Oxford Dictionary.  They should be added some day.

Great comments by all!  Thank you.  I know it's simple, but obviously times change...and we need to keep up (or keep informed) regardless of whether technology stays up.  :)

Elayna Fernandez - Naples FL  Blog is short for "Web Log". It's an abbreviation, not a word. But I agree that we need to change and evolve.  Thank you soo much for the post.

Elayna,

Thank you for your comment.  You raise an interesting point about a "word" versus an abbreviation.  While "blog" certainly does come from the combination of two words, the fact that it's "new" doesn't mean it's not a word.  In fact, new words are added to the dictionary every year as a result of new words being used with such wide acceptance in our fluid and growing language.  Here's how Merriam-Webster defines the word "blog":

 Pronunciation:
\ˈblȯg, ˈbläg\
Function:
noun
Etymology:
short for Weblog
Date:
1999

: a Web site that contains an online personal journal with reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks provided by the writer ; also : the contents of such a site - blog·ger noun - blog·ging noun

You can find this definition and other new words at www.m-w.com
