Ten yard line on football field

DAY 10 OF 29 DAYS OF GIFTSarrived on another cold, wet and rainy day with snow fore casted.  I was to attend the "Cookies & Critters" event this morning and wondered just how many people would attend on such a day.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that a parking space was going to be a tricky thing to discover!   The lot was filled and cars were lined up to get in! !   YIPPEE

When I finally made it to the front door it was soooo nice to see the room filled with oodles of people, all with money to spend.  The Tea Room, which I was there to support, hadn't an empty seat and with the site of all the delectable treats piled high on all the plates, I could see why!

Couple having breakfast

There was homemade jams and relishes, baked goods like you can only imagine, homemade garlic oil and basil vinegar . . .  I love getting lots of this for making up Christmas baskets later on.  I could see that most of what I donated last night was already sold, so I was well pleased with that.

In the midst of all this was a 72 year old woman who never tires of helping out the aged and the animals.  She is constantly dropping of homemade soup and breads to the elderly or infirm.  She walks dogs, babysits cats.  Making the oils, preserves, dog cookies . . .

In the midst of all the madness, I stopped her and asked her if I could present her with a "Who I am Makes A Difference" blue ribbon.

I pinned it to her coat and told her how important she is to all of us in the community.  Her tireless quest to make everyone happy and comfortable is admirable and that if we had a citizen of the year, I would nominate her every year!

She became quite teary and I know she was touched by the well deserved recognition.  What an honour for me to be able to present her with such a small token for all that she does.

Tomorrow is Day 11, hope you join me!  (if you have the time, please visit my earlier days)
