My dear friend, Ms. Jennifer Allan wrote another great blog today, Be in the Right Place at the Right Time ... More Frequently! She attended a seminar recently about just that topic. The self-professed introvert thrived on being alone but agreed on needing to get out more often. I absolutely believe that.
My comments/ feedback to her post was this: Before you need to be in the right place at the right time more frequently, YOU NEED TO SHOW UP! In Your Mind.

There are so many people that are running around with their heads chopped off! Running around, looking busy with no end in mind and in sight. Whenever you ask them How are things with the business? The answer is always, "It's going great!" Sure it is. The truth may be a little further away. While I dont expect people to be really honest with their acquaintances, Hi-Bye friends or even close friends because financial topics are far too personal. The more you answer It's going great - the more you begin to believe it. You might even become complacent because of your thoughts! It is fine if that's how you intend to be, but if it was never your goal to begin with, you GOT to start doing something different. The super genius Albert Einstein said, Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
We have 7 weeks left in 2008. While there are still some possibilities in closing another deal or two for most typical agent, chances are slim that you will meet your goals if you are far from it. You might have to start planning a better 2009. Better truly in the sense of the word. Better prospecting method, better production, better forecast, better budget, better marketing, etc. But you cannot do all of these successfully if you dont first show up in your head!
Just imagine that you are in your kindergarten class. The teacher had asked you a question you know the answer to. You are excited and you lift your hands and shout, Me, me, me! That's the spirit I am trying to generate for your business in 2009. Now that I have beaten you down, do you still love me?
First, show up in your head. Get yourself off the bed and into a proper mindset. Clothe yourself in your favorite productive attire. Just imagine if you were plan to show 5 houses today. You wouldn't leave the house until you know your routes for the day. So, how different is this from planning your business? Your Roadmap to a successful 2009 is a Business Plan. It is your map that will navigate you through unchartered territories.
Take this time to plan for 2009. Show up every day in your mind. Don't let your current numbers get you down. Don't let the media tell you how your books must look. You can do it if you first show up in your mind! It's Me, me, me attitude!
