OLD WAILUKU TOWN - Maui County Hawaii

I took these the other day when showing a Wailuku homes for sale to some clients - young first time home buyers from Maui.  You know, some parts of Old Wailuku are just dripping with charm - classic homes and businesses from the 1920's and 30's.  Some of the most affordable housing and real estate on Maui is in Wailuku.  Wailuku is also the County seat, with the government offices and all that.  Want to see more Wailuku buildings?

Then I grabbed some lunch at the Ichiban Okazuka - that's like local-style Japanese take out food.  Got the chicken katsu mini plate, with veg.  Damn it was good.  Busy spot at lunch time in Old Wailuku... plenty of walk in traffic.

The clouds in the blue skies are reminiscent of the islands.  Your pictures are excellent!

Georgina - Very nice photographs and it really looks like Hawaii gets a lot of moisture, it is so green.

Scott - and there's a great tattoo shop in Paia, if you feel the need to feel the needle

Robert - most parts of Hawaii get plenty of rain, but they save the dry parts for the tourists

Can you do something about those telephone and electrical wires?  Oh, that's right, they add to the charm and rural character.  Did you see  that Chris Hart's son is trying to open a pub in downtown Wailuku.  Revitalization is coming...Slowly but surely.

Yes Billy I saw that - isn't that where the old Vineyard Tavern used to be, or somewhere around there.  That was quite the notorious hangout.

Bob - glad you liked them.

Mary - I guess that depends on your definition of affordable, but YES, come on over and I'll find you something you can afford.

Your classic Wailuku home looks like a classic San Diego Craftsman home. Looks like it costs the same, too -- LOL.

Russel this home is a cut above the usual plantation style camp homes.  This must have been a very nice home back when it was built.
