Oh crap, I channeled my very alive father when I heard the words come out of my mouth when talking to a younger client of mine. He said, "I saw you on Twitter and thought about giving you a shout out, but saw the only updates on there from you were for your posts, don't you use it?"

Well, that is when the words flowed from my lips all too easily, "I have never really used and to be honest just don't get it" What? Technology, not understanding it? Dang it! My father calls me when something technical goes wrong... I'm the one that is supposed to be up to date on all this new technology.

Everyone else is getting business from it and maybe I just need to hand my phone off to my 10 year old and let her figure out Twitter and then I can be as tech savvy as my client seems to be.

Oh, why does getting old hurt so much? Now get off my lawn!

Todd, I hear you , my 15 year old son understands the social network better than I do. As an added bonus I recently caught myself saying "because I'm your father" when questioned about something. That was a statement I promised myself I would never use..DANG!!

Very funny, Todd...Many of us, including me, can relate...I know I have to make 10x or more the effort to try and learn some of these new applications...but I have learned that twitter is definitely worth it! You would reap benefits from the 10-week webinar produced by DOMUS CONSULTING GROUP, which I've been taking. They have a group on AR now that you can see what we're learning...I think the new class begins tomorrow, too! CHEERS!

Charlie,

Your not alone!  But I feel that society always realizes that the older the better.  Hey, we all know that the OLDER cars were built better (and worth alot more today) when kept in good shape.  Homes were built better "back in the day".  Doctor's were better..........they'd even come to your house to take care of you.........................service was BETTER period!

So on that note, if someone wants a BETTER Realtor to represent them, they will THINK and go with a good old fashioned REALTOR who will focus on them and not be showing them a house with an earpiece in their ear, talking to someone else while they are suppose to be talking to you.  Someone who's devices are not beeping through an entire car ride.

So I say technology is helpful but the younger generation needs to realize that "OLDER has always come back to be BETTER.

As far as Twitter...............I'm sure it's a good thing, and eventually we'll figure it out.........but remember, just give all your clients OLD FASHIONED GOOD SERVICE and the word will spread.

I guess we all feel that way sometimes Todd.  I signed up for Twitter and I'm still trying to figure it out!  Just when I do, something else will come along.  Back when I was young... ;}

Don't worry, Twitter makes even me feel old and I am the youngest person in my office.  I understand it but it's just a lot of effort when I can simply text or IM someone and find out what they are doing instead of looking on Twitter because I don't forward the twitters to my cell at this point.  My phone would be constantly pinging if I did.  I do need to get better at the Twitter thing though because everyone seems to love it.

Todd ny friend....sounding like your father is a rite of passage :)  We all grow up one day, and with all the technology we just do the best we can.  That's all any of us can really do anyway.....my Post from yesterday shows what happens when we try to keep up :)

Todd

It's not so much getting older; but rather having the energy to get when we fall because we are getting older.

Sincerely

Charlie - It seems to be and endless then....

Steve - NOOOOOOO, not the "because I'm your father" statement.

Mara - I will have to check that out, maybe they can help me figure out what twitter is really all about.

Sandra - I love it, I think you put down in words what I was thinking...I'm better!

Laura - Of course even 5 years ago I could always count on being able to personally present my offers, now I think I may have to use Twitter to send them - lol

Fran - I'm glad to see I'm not the only one...Now how do I get a rotary dial installed on my cell phone?

Marilyn - That is what I mean, why do I care if someone is driving to work or in the line at the bank?
