Don’t Be Average!

By
Home Stager with Gloria Home Staging, Inc.

The average home here in the Orlando, Florida, region is on the market for 111 days before it sells. That means that the average home seller goes through nearly 3 months of showings and stress before someone finally buys the home. But why be average? Why not be one who sells your home sooner than others?

Average means normal, common, middling, ordinary, run-of-the-mill. Does anyone out there set out to buy themselves an average home? People may sometimes settle for an average home, but most keep looking until they find one that stands out. One that doesn’t raise questions about room size or purpose. One that has the practical features they want, but also excites their imaginations. One that creates the desire to live there.

If home buyers aren’t looking for an average home, don’t try to sell an average home! You can become a better-than-average home seller by calling in a home staging expert to help make your home catch the buyers’ eyes. Staged homes sell twice as fast as their unstaged competition. A professional home stager will help your home be individual, uncommon, exceptional, out of the ordinary, remarkable.

Distinguish your home from the crowd. Don’t be average!

Hello Laurie- Yes, homeowners need to their home 'show' and be above average if they want to sell faster! Keep reminding 'em.....  Regards-Kathleen G

Laurie, good point and a great argument to use when talking to sellers about various aspects of listing and selling, not just staging.  Love the photo, beautiful, serene, with just the right splash of color!

Gretchen -  So many seem to just accept the average selling time, but average by definition means that some homes sell faster. Why not try to be one of those? It makes no sense to me to not do what it takes to beat the odds. Thanks for commenting!

Kathleen - It was great to meet you at the Roundtable. Let's keep fighting the good fight!

Silvia - There's really nothing about staging that doesn't make sense to me. (I guess that's why I'm in the business!) Thanks for stopping by. I'm glad you like the photo.

Amen!  :)

It is such a valuable message to send to the buyer - the seller has them in mind.  Can hardly lose with that mind-set!

Susan - You're right. Staging is usually spoken of as a service for the seller, but it really helps the buyer, too. I love win win situations!

Yeah, who is that average person or average family anyway? OHHHH they are these guys who can't understand how staging can help them.  Poor things, they are your next clients and boy do they need you.   Nice post.

So true Laurie!  Average is not memorable, Average does not WOW, and average does not allow you to stand out from the competition.

Terrylynn - We have to treat our buyers like we would treat honored guests to our home, by putting more than average effort into preparing for them. (Like if the in-laws were coming to visit, and we wanted to impress them...) Thanks for stopping by!

Michele - Even if buyers know they're being WOWed, they still enjoy the WOW. Who wouldn't like being in a memorable home, instead of one that looks like all the others. And wouldn't it be great to be treated to lots of beautiful homes during your home search, in that perfect world where all homes are staged... We can dream, can't we?
