I like taking sunset pictures, and I know many of you do as well. They can be breathtaking in their color, depth, and power. They also can be routine - unspectacular.
As I was getting ready for what I thought would be some good pictures this evening, it occurred to be that catching the perfect (or at least noteworthy) photo is a lot like getting a "yes" when asking for the sale.
Take tonight. The clouds were a pretty orangeish-pink. All the makings of a really firey sunset. It wasn't quite ready. Be patient. Some sales take a while to materialze.
I was going to do something else for a few minutes and go back, but I've learned from experience that sunsets are only "ripe" for a few minutes and then they're gone. You've got to be ready when they are - like making a sale happen. Patience.
Tonight it wasn't to be. The gorgeous sunset never happened - like customers who seemed really interested and then just stopped and went away.
Sometimes you'll get a really nice sunset picture but then 30 seconds or a minute later it will be so much more dramatic. Patience. Ask for the sale a t just the right moment when everything is ready.
Interestingly, some of the best. most memorable sunset pictures happen after a rain when there are a lot of clouds and moisture in the air - makes for really great color combinations. In a selling situation, sometimes the "stormy" ones - the ones with objections or issues to overcome - make the most solid sale.
