This week marks the beginning of the Kentucky Derby Festival! Just about every day between now and the first Saturday in May are marked with some type of party, contest, celebration, food, etc. One of the most popular events, aside from the Kentucky Derby itself, is Thunder Over Louisville. Thunder kicks off with a heart-pumping air show with everything from sky divers, to stunt planes, to the B2 Stealth and everything else in between (more than 60 aircraft fly in this show)! If you've never physically seen the Stealth fly over your head, you need to experience it! Talk about eerie! You don't even hear it until it's gone-baby-gone!
After the air show, which runs for 6 HOURS, the skies light up with the nation's largest fireworks shows! The fireworks are sponsored by Kentuckiana corporations and local fundraisers, and has been put on every year since 1991.
Louisville is very proud of it's Derby Festival. Some of the events you can expect to see during the Derby Festival are:
Thunder Over Louisville
The Chow Wagon
Great Steamboat Race
Great Bed Races
Great Balloon Race

I fell down at the Derby. That night was black as coals. Found a winning ticket behind a staircase. $2500!
Mint juleps all around. What's not <a href="http://www.snapspans.com/Louisville-KY/Beauty-Salons-Services">to love in Louisville</a>?
