friendship ballIt's not that I didn't appreciate the wonderful words written by Gena Riede when she passed the Friendhip Ball to me. I did. I really did.

It's just that I'm not a MEME fan.

Actually, I need to use a strong word. I hate MEME's. I wish I didn't. I know they make people feel good and I'm usually all over that. But the "chain letter" feel of most MEME's makes me shutter a bit and it's all I can do to bring myself to write one. I've already talked to Gena on the phone about it. She knows how I feel and she understands. She also knows I dig her, so all of you who sent me messages asking why I hadn't forwarded this yet, you can rest easy now.

And for the two people I'm choosing. I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. :)

The rules dictate that I can only choose two. Like everyone else, there are many I could pick. But I'm choosing my two closest friends here on ActiveRain. They are the two people who befriended me first and time has only deepened the relationships. I could wax poetic about how much I love both of them, but if you've been paying attention at all, you already know.

So, The Lovely Wife and Ines Hegedus-Garcia, this friendship ball is for you. I love you both!

Jeff, kudos for starting this discussion that evolved into a diatribe on chain emails/posts/letters.  I can't imagine that anyone likes them, but some people must, otherwise how do they get started?  I am new to the rain so haven't been tapped here but I always feel guilty when I don't answer, I am afraid to insult the one who sent it to me, some threaten dire consequences - which I thoroughly resent, some presuppose that the recipient has the same belief system as the sender when the sender knows nothing about or is disregarding my belief system... I could go on... but I will spare you.

Jeff, I couldn't have said it better myself. I absolutely detest chain anything. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate my friends and business colleagues "think" enough of me to send these, but having to send things onto 25 of my closest friends makes me cringe. I don't like receiving these myself and have a VERY hard time sending them to my friends. Thanks for letting me vent!

Ps...I love your blog and tutorials! I'm self teaching myself in the art of AR blogging! Best to you in 2009!
