A Battle Royal!

ForSaleByOwner.com vs. REALTOR.com

The scoop:  ForSaleByOwner.com sent out a press release stating that they can now post unrepresented listings on REALTOR.com.  REALTOR.com says that they can't and have asked them to send out a retraction.  ForSaleByOwner.com says that everything they sent out is accurate and will not issue a retraction.

So can they or can't they?  Seems like this should be a black and white issue.  I hope that REALTOR.com wins.

In today's market I can't see the value of going it alone- hiring a Realtor is just smart math!

Maybe FSBO.com is buying acccess to REALTOR.COM through agents in various cities?

Very interesting.  I've been saying for over 10 years that unless the MLS and Realtor.com modernize themselves to the 21st century that the internet will make them a thing of the past just like Etrade has done to stockbrokers and Expedia has done to travel agents.

Here is your Answer Ford:

Seems that if you hire an agent to input you as MLS entry only, then FSBO.Com can get you into REALTOR.com.

And these are our OWN agents that do this to the rest of the profession.

Will be watching to see how this plays out -- seems silly that FSBOs should be on the site.

I got these stats at a class, probably a GRI class don't remember which one...but FSBO's generally end up getting up to 17% less in sales price.  If they had used a Realtor they would have gotten a better sales price and paid on average a 6% commission.

In addition, when you sell a home yourself, you are opening it to the world, anyone from anywhere can come in at anytime.  Are they pre-qualified to buy your home?  Are they checking out the layout so they can come back and rob you later....got any meds they might want? Why people still do FSBO's is beyond me and it's a real security risk!!  Hope Realtor.com wins..

Yeah, I don't think FSBOs should be allowed...thanks, Ford, for the heads up...we appreciate the pass alongs!

Ford, if you could, please remove "FSBO.com's" name from your Post.

FSBO.com is in NO way related to www.forsalebyowner.com.  We are in fact in direct competition with each other.

The press release you are referring to was not sent out by www.fsbo.com.

Sorry bout that Michael.  I changed the name in the blog.  Now that you're on here though what are your thoughts from the FSBO end of things?  Do you think unrepresented sellers should get a shot at the MLS?

Hi guys. So act that your principle of action might safely be made a law for the whole world. I am from Central and bad know English, give true I wrote the following sentence: "Now, in the midst of the recession, parents who pay for preschool are being forced to rethink that decision, which in texas can mean tuition rivaling that at a public university." Waiting for a reply :-(, Davine.
