How to solve the Detroit automaker crisis...

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner

The following blog post is satire, it is not intended as a real solution to the Detoit car maker crisis, although it is entirely possible that this is something that the Big 3 are considering.

I have been reading and watching and listening, and then reading some more about the Detoit car maker crisis that is unfolding, when finally it hit me.

I don't know how I missed this before.  It was smack dab in front of my nose the whole time.

What the Big 3 need to do is turn themselves into a bank; just like American Express did a couple of weeks ago.

Just like I suggested that I would do; turn my brokerage into the Bank of Mark MacKenzie:  http://activerain.com/blogsview/784516/The-Bank-of-Mark-MacKenzie

The Big 3 want TARP money, who doesn't?

The problem is that Paulson doesn't want to give it to them because they are not a bank or financial institution.  The TARP was designed for buying TROUBLED ASSETS, although as of yet, not one dime has been allocated to buying troubled assets; nor does it appear one dime ever will.  But I guess these are all minor details that I shouldn't concern myself with because apparently nobody else in Washington is either.

But here is what does worry me, if the Big 3 along with the United Auto Workers, can't figure out how to exploit TARP, and who can't, then there is indeed a problem with the leadership with these companies - and that is the problem I have with bailing them out.

LOL, I am still laughing at your post. When will the government madness end? I am going to have to get therapy if the government doesn't stop soon.

Hi Mark

Outstanding post, by the way when the auto makers get the money there is no accountable and they can have a series of special events and parties just like AGI.

Good luck and success

The auto makers need to get rid of the union!  I am tired of bailing out people who don't manage their business well!

Steven: Thank you very much, I'll be here all week...

Seriously, if this whole bailout weren't so comical there would be rioting in the streets.  At least some of us are still laughing.  It is when we stop laughing that I start to get really worried.

Lou: There will not be any accountability and this will cost us several installments of bailouts.

In 1979 Chrysler asked the government for help, a loan, to get them through hard times.  They not only repaid it 7 years early, but they also added 300+ million dollars to the treasury coffers.

That loan from the government helped employ millions of people for almost 3 decades.

Bailout?  That's not what they are asking for.  They're asking for help - a bridge loan.

Sorry...this hits too close to home to find amusing.  Delete this if you wish.

Kris:  Of course I am not going to delete your post.  This is America and everybody is entitled to their opinions.

We of course will agree to disagree, and that is fine.

I don't have an issue with "loaning" these companies money so long as they can renegotiate terms with the UAW or get rid of the UAW all together.  I understand the importance that these car makers have to this country, but I also understand how the UAW is partly responsible for their demise.

Any organization that wants to abolish private ballots is an orginization that doesn't have a place in America.
