Keeping updated with the market

Real Estate Agent with Carolina One Real Estate

As I met with one of my favorite mortgage lenders to talk about what's going on with the mortgage industry right now, I couldn't help but think that these contacts with related professionals are just as important as the contacts we make with our prospects.  I was surprised to learn everything that had taken place in the lending market in the past month or so, and I realized that this hour I spent with her was as productive as an hour's worth of calling and emailing prospects.  When we ended our meeting, I was thinking that I should really do these kinds of meetings more often.

And, sure, things will change in the lending market even before the week is out, but it was good to actually talk with someone and be able to get my questions answered right then and there.  Reading the news and various blogs related to the financial market is incredibly important in the real estate career.  Being able to talk to your clients about the trends that are going on can prove yourself to be a good resource as they're buying a home.  But, it's also good to occasionally meet with professionals in the market and talk one on one about issues affecting home buyers.

It's also good to just keep up good personal relationships with your lenders, attorneys, inspectors, etc.  And, as Active Rain has taught us, it never hurts to network!

Absolutely, I learn more everyday just being around other agents, brokers and lenders. Networking in my community is the single most important thing I can do to market myself as an agent.
