On the Brink of a Breakout?

I feel as though my Staging business is really taking off, or is it? How long did it take before you Staging connoisseurs really felt as though your Staging endeavor was a legitimate, profitable business? How many consultations did you average per month? How many vacant homes did you Stage before you knew this was the right business for you?

How profitable is profitable?  It sounds like the staging end is down for you but the business end is where you are wondering what is next?  My experience with stagers is that they love doing what they are doing so much that they don't really THINK of it as a business therefore it doesn't run like a business.  Profit is what you get to keep after expenses, taxes and paying yourself.  The average stager who does it for the love of staging often does not charge enough to compensate for all of those things.  GREAT that you are going to explode, so time for the business part to get in shape so you can handle the explosion when it happens.  There are some terrific staging courses - CSP for one - that can give you that if you have gaps.  And, you can also go to the local chamber of commerce in your area and they sometimes have business coaches for people for free or little cost.  GOOD luck to you, would love to see some of your work.  What a nice problem to have.

Oh, consultations in California Bay Area vary dependent on how busy the stagers want to be.  Some are set up to handle 2 or three a day if they are not staging.  Others do 1 or two a week.  Vacants?  Well hard to judge unless you are getting feedback from your realtors or clients, how many tell you if you are good?  What do you think?  Are you enjoying it and making a knockout impression?  Does your work compare to what you see on the other staging sites?  I would say you could know you are awesome after one or several dependent on the feedback you are getting.  You go girl, like to see people questioning themselves as that causes us to reflect, re evaluate and move in a positive direction.  Happy Staging
