Should you use a POD, PACKRAT, or a traditional storage facility, when moving in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel-Hill area? Since I have experience with both I can say that both have advantages. I will address Portable-On-Demand-Storage Units, PackRats, and other mobile storage solutions. These units are much different than a stationary storage unit because you have options. When moving in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel-Hill area you can move at your on pace when loading the units because they are conviently parked outside your residence. Therefore you are not making trips back and forth to the storage unit, burning gas and time. With PODS, you simply load/unload as much as you want and proceed the next day. Another advantage of having a POD when moving in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel-Hill area is that when it is time to move the items you can have them move the whole unit to the next location, or have them store it at their facility.
Pods work great for people that are putting their homes on the market and want to de-clutter and stage their homes. This way the furniture is still available close by, and they can present a better image of their home. The units are easy to load, and you can stuff them to the max. Traditional storage units (the stationary ones) are good for long term storage, and may be less expensive than long term PODS storages. Although, not that expensive when you calculate the time, and truck rental fees, when it's time to transport the items. I've seen many traditonal storage units now carrying PODS, PACKRATS, and other mobile storage solutions, in an attempt to read the writing on the wall.
Some moving companies are now carrying them as well, although reluctantly. When relocating in the NC Raleigh Durham-Chapel-Hill area, I would recommend renting a PODS, PACKRATS, storage unit. A special side note to moving in the Triangle NC area you can also arrange to have a moving labor service provider load and unload the units, and cut moving time and expenses in half. This is another great benefit of using a MOBILE STORAGE UNIT because with traditional moving companies you are going to pay exorbitant fees for moving and delivery. Travel fees, surcharges, and other hidden fees.
