You may or may not know that my mother is also an activerain member.  She is my hero, my Broker in Charge, my mentor, my WCR Local Chapter President (I am her President Elect). Yesterday morning, her little Jack Russell Terrier, "Casey" was having difficulty breathing.  She ran him right over to her Veterinarian and dropped him off for tests.  Later in the morning, she received news from the vet that Casey was in Congestive Heart Failure, has pancreatitus and kidney/liver failure.  Casey is about 13 years old and has suffered from Epilepsy for years.  He is her pride and joy, and she is really struggling with the situation.  She knows that she does not ever want him to suffer, and believes that quality is more important than quantity, but now that he is so sick, she is really torn.  She can't imagine what her life would be like without him. They sent him home on medications, and he does seem to be perking up a bit.  The vet told her that he didn't have much time left. 

Please pray for Marian, my mom, to have the strength that she needs to make the right decision about Casey.  Please pray for Casey, that he not suffer.  Please pray for me and my dad, that we may say and do whatever my mom needs for support right now.

If you have time, maybe send her a quick message to show support, and let her know that you are praying for her and Casey.  Sometimes, the best answers come from strangers.

Amy,  Thanks for putting this out.  I know the power of prayer.  I know that Casey is at the end of his life so I'm not praying for him to live longer, I know that would be unfair.  But I'm praying that he not suffer and that I have enough time to get a little more ready to say goodbye before I must.

While each of my dogs has had its own personality and can never be replaced, it helps to have other dogs and pets around to remind us how much they give to us, to stay busy, and to ease the pain.  It's never easy to say good-bye.  Our prayers are with you.

The latest update on Casey!  Prayer is a powerful thing, Casey has perked up a bit.  He's still not his old self, and according to the vet he doesn't have much time, but is doing better and doesn't seem to be suffering.  My mom has more time with him and we are all very thankful. 

I appreciate everyones' thoughts and prayers and will keep you posted.  Thanks for asking Tami, don't you just love my mom?

It is a very hard decision to make. Quality of life is what counts. Your Mother will know when it is time.

Actually Casey will tell her when it is time to go.....
