Fresh herbs for sale.Mine's on Pima Street just west of Craycroft in Tucson.  It's called Terra Designs.  Chefs come here to buy herbs.

There's something about a plant nursery that attracts optimists.  I'm one of those.  An optimist.

I don't remember ever meeting anyone in a nursery, browsing among the plants, and thinking to myself "Wow.  What a negative person!"  Not once in sixty years.

Negativity just can't exist in a place like Terra Designs, where everything around you speaks of new life, color, texture, and possibilities.

The southwest is a place of bright, vibrant colors, and our nurseries reflect that.  I can't tell you what these flowers are, but I know I like them!

So why is this little nursery my favorite?  There are much larger nurseries in Tucson, with a greater variety of plants to offer, but there's something about the architecture and layout of this little place that draws you in.  Have you ever been to a prayer garden in a monastery?  The sense of peace that comes over you in such a place exists in this little plot of commercial activity on Pima Street in Tucson, Arizona.

The economy has been affecting the nurseries in our area. It's sad, but several have shut down =(

Lisa,

That's a shame.  Sad to hear that.

So there you go.  You'll like this little place.  Tell them you read about them in the Rain.  Thanks for being the first to comment.

Wow!

A "Green" post I can agree with!

Of course people at the nursery are positive! Like all Farmers they combine science with tremendous faith, they are often quite, but always positive, Good people. You've got to like people that help things grow.

Once again, your post make me feel good.

Mike - Nurseries and bookstores, my two favorie places to hang out. Can't rush through either one of these, and it never fails that an interesting, positive conversation strikes up there. We have the Grange Co-op, which is my favorite nursery and they have a store with pet supplies, too, which we stop at after church a lot to see the critters.

Terry,

I'll try to keep you supplied with photos of warm, sunny Tucson.  One great thing about golf here in the winter is that you don't lose white balls in the middle of the fairway like I used to up north.  LOL

Karen,

Sounds like a post with pics is in the offing!

I'm one of those who is always on the lookout for nurseries. Some of the mom-and-pop nurseries out in the boondocks have some really interesting plants. I should just buy myself a nursery and be done with it. Easier that way, I suppose.

Russel,

Some people get seriously addicted to their plants; we did a loan for a San Diego/Tucson resident where the value of the cacti and other mature plants on the property outside San Diego exceeded $200,000.  (For the plants!)

Mike - Good idea! Much closer than the beach was, although there were an easy 5 other posts along the way to Harris Beach (my last post)
