Tucked away among the trees off of Old Bridge Road in Prince William County is the community of Lake Ridge.  With over 7000 detached homes, townhomes and condominiums a buyer can find just about any type of home at a price that fits their budget within Lake Ridge.

As you drive through each of the different sections of Lake Ridge you will get a true sense of "small town America."  Frequent community events including Youth Flag Football, T-Ball, Summer Camps, Yard Sales, and Holiday Parades give everyone young and old a chance to meet their neighbors.

With multiple grocery stores, plenty of places to eat and a nice mixture of small shops residents of Lake Ridge don't have to drive far to find everyday necessities.  When the need arises Lake Ridge is only a few miles from the huge Potomac Mills Outlet Mall, Ikea, Costco, Lowes and Home Depot.

If your family includes children there are 5 elementary schools, 1 middle school and 1 high school all within the community.  Many children can walk to school and for the others it is a short bus ride.  There are also a number of pre-schools located within the boundaries of the community as well.

Looking for recreation activities?  Then Lake Ridge is the place for you.  If you are a runner join the Ridge Runners Club, launch a small boat Hooes Run Boat Ramp, play tennis at one of the seven courts, swim at one of the five pools, or join one of the many other clubs that meet at one of the two community centers.  If that isn't enough for you Prince William County Park Authority also operates Lake Ridge Park with a 9 hole golf course and a small marina.

Lake Ridge has always been popular with military families who find themselves with orders to Fort Belvoir, the Pentagon or Quantico.  Not only are all of the reasons listed above important to military families but the drive to Fort Belvoir is within 30 minutes or less depending on where you live in the community.  There are multiple options for commuting to the Pentagon including slug lines, bus routes from commuter lots and the VRE with transfer points to the Metro.  Quantico is a reverse commute on either I-95 or Route 1.

So if you are looking for a neighborhood where the developers left the cookie cutters at home then give me a call to take a tour of Lake Ridge.  Let's see if this Prince William County community is the next place you want to call home.

WOW Cindy - makes me want to move there and I'm not even in the market!  This is a shining example of what localism posts should be!

I agree... sounds like a nice place to live.  If I was in the market, I would think about checking it out. Great localism post for sure!

Cindy, I LOVE your slide show.  I need to get on the ball with that stuff.  So funny, I know where all of those exact houses are in Germantown Maryland, even the lake.  We are so close and yet so far away!!

Hi Cindy,

I've lived in the Lake Ridge area for the past  25+ years and love it here. Cindy,I think you did an awesome job in showing what Lake Ridge is all about. I have many customers who do not have a second car. When someone lives in the heart of Lake Ridge where Old Bridge Elementary, Lake Middle School and Woodbridge High School are all on the same corner, they really don't need a second car. You can walk to the stores, to church, to the schools and the Urgent Care!  We have great commuter options to DC from Lake Ridge and the local bus is very user friendly.

So Cindy is correct, if your looking for a new place to call home. Lake Ridge Virignia is a great place to put on your list of possibilities!

Cindy, this post is a winner.  It's easy to see why so many relocating buyers choose you for an agent, when you're giving them content like this.  Great job, my friend!

Irene-Happy Thanksgiving to you too.  Chicago folks disappeared-go figure!  The widget is a freebie. I use Picasa which is a nice editing tool for photos and you can create slide shows and photo albums on line.  I use them to send a link back to clients after we have spent the day looking at homes.  An easy way to help trigger their memory.

Audrey June-our area is sprinkled with a number of these great communities, many of them by the same builders.  Slide show is easy.  You can read my comment to Irene right above yours about how I create mine.  It takes less than 5 mintues to do.  Go for it!

This is a great post about a community I would never have thought to move to but you make it look so enticing...I find posts about communities more difficult to write but you did a great job and its a great example of how to do a localism post.

Sonja-I certainly don't try and write about every community that exists in Northern Virginia but ones that I can highlight for buyers as examples.  If you have a favorite neighborhood where you work or live just start making a list of the reasons why you think it is great and a post will surely follow.

Hey Cindy,

We met at NAR 2008. I believe I mentioned that I used to live in Northern Virginia, but didn't mention that I lived on Nellings Place off of Springwoods Drive in Lakewood. I had a townhouse overlooking the Occoquan River.  It is a beautiful community. I hope you have gotten back into the routine after your trip to Orlando.

Dave-no you didn't mention Lake Ridge.  Just goes to show how small the world can be.  I sold a townhouse in Ridgeleigh earlier this year,  There are some great buys in Lake Ridge right now!  I'm still digesting some of the info from NAR.  Loved meeting all of the Diamond Dwellings "team."
