I know in this busy time in our lifes between working and social lifes that we must crasp for time to decorate for the Holidays when we can but,I still get a sad and quilty feeling when I think about decorating for the holidays myself. I feel like we are not really teaching our younger generation that Thanksgiving is as important as we use to view it. I remember the importants of giving thanks  for all our blessings and sharing it with family and friends, this is not to say that we should not give thanks every day but we still need to put value on this special day.  Today,I just thought about this as I passed several homes with their christmas lights and tree already up. I fear that soon one day that this will completely vanish and we will have just the commercial part of Christmas that is all that is left for the last two months of the year.  Do not get me wrong,I love all holidays . It was just a sad thought.

There importance of Thanksgiving is up to us to pass down to our children and grandchildren.  Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because it is all about family, friends and fellowship.  We go around the tables every year and tell what we are thankful for in the previous year.  It is very emotional, some laughs some cries, but we all look forward to this very special day!

I was in the grocery store this past weekend and they were already playing holiday music.  It made me pause, and think "what happened to Thanksgiving?"  I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way.

I wonder if there are any studies that indicate better sales figures when they play that music? It seems like such a universal retail approach, maybe there is some retailer pact that they all make to play the music from Halloween until New Years?

They started playing Christmas music in early October on one station here!  I agree that the season doesn't really begin until AFTER Thanksgiving!  Yes, the stores can decorate, but that is it....you can put lights up outside taking advantage of nicer weather if possible, DON'T TURN THEM ON til after Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is important because it's a positive and secular holiday where we celebrate gratitude, something that we don't do enough of these days.
