I have been preparing for a Career Fair event at Del Oro High School here in Loomis; Ca where I will talk to an auditorium full of teenagers about what they need to learn in High school in order to work in Real Estate and it really got me thinking....... What do you need to know to work in Real Estate? So I put together my top ten high school subjects that apply to real estate just to keep my perspective while making my Power point presentation how everyone enjoys.
- Writing/composition - Wordage on flyers, web pages and blogs
- Computer Applications - How to understand the tool you work with the most
- Government - Understanding when something is changing how it will affect your business in the long run tax wise as well as your clients
- Photography - Photos of listing as well as the community you work in
- Basic math - Confirming lenders rates on the contract (always double check someone else's numbers)
- Geometry - Square footage for homes and land
- Speech - Public speaking aka: MLS
- Foreign language -Being able to communicate with your clients or their families. This also helps in relocation when your client is moving to another country
- Independent studies - This can be something like a niche market it is an area that is out of the box but something you like and can talk fluently in
- Drama - How to keep a smile when you want to scream that my friends is the true talent in this profession
Well there you have it Sandy's top 10 things you need to learn in High School in order to be a real estate agent, hope everyone enjoys this because it really helped me for my speech tomorrow. Did I mention I have to fill 20 mins?
Special thanks to Allie and Sierra for helping me coordinate my wants and needs for the day of the event they have truly shined in the area of speaker communication. (Another filed necessary in life)
Nice job on the list. I understand why drama was added to the list.
