Snow guns are going at Loon..& my 400th post cool how that worked out

This marks the start of the new Ski Season, the guns are going full blast today.

November 2008, the guns are on it's 21 degrees out and opening day is

planned for 11/22/08 at Loon, they can lay down the white stuff pretty

fast if the cold temperatures stay where they're at. Gondola lift / left side.

guns, should be able to ski in a bout 3 days.

The Governors pavilion, next to the Governors base lodge, take one last

look at the grass, it will be gone for the next 5+ months by Tomorrow

didn't know until I posted this it was my 400th blog posting, funny that it worked out that way, since the start of our ski season signals a big increase in activity for the area, lets hope it's good karma..

Steve, congrats on your 400th blog. I also am pleased to see snow up in the White Mountains, it is after all that time of year. Besides being so much fun, snow up north for NH brings $$$$$ and right now our state and businesses could use all the green (and white) they can get.

Christopher, It has been below zero day with the wind chill, but Lincoln is smiling,this stuff is White Gold..for us. thanks Steve

Barbara You know it didn't occur to me that some people might not have seen "snow-guns", they are high powered fans that a fine mist of water is pumped through. Instant snow!!, thanks for dropping by. Steve

Some people from the south have never seen "snow"! That skiing looks mighty dangerous to an old southern girl. LOL

Barbara, My mom is in her 70's and still skis a little, but has purchased a place in Florida that she heads to after the Holidays..lately.

She can water ski in Florida. But I was always scared to do that too because I couldn't swim.

Steve...How long have you been waxing your skies to prepare for this years season?

Bill-No waxing necessary, I'll shave :), People rarely wax these days unless it's wet and it's race day.

Steve... That is one beautiful sight. I can actually imagine the sound as the snow is being pumped. Let's hear it for the snow... Hooray!!!!

Val, This is the sound we love to hear..skiers want to hear it too, if mother nature doesn't help we'll make it ourselves.

Steve, 400 posts is quite an accomplishment! Congratulations! As for the sno guns, brrrrr!

Steve, wow 400 posts! Congratulations! When I grow up I want to be just like you! As for 'seeing you coming', I don't think so! You'd be headed right for the window of the bar inside the Lodge!

I see the snow on Mt. Washington from my office in Maine. Have fun with that first chair lift ride. I was over in your area last year in the sumer and loved it. I think I called you maybe but you were busy.

I've actually never seen a snow gun in action... I wish that I could have a white Christmas!

Ahh - it is almost Thanksgiving, it is 80+ degrees, wearing shorts - and looking at beautiful pictures of snow while I work on my laptop by the pool...just seeing the photos of the snow guns brings back fond memories of living in a ski resort though...hope you guys have enough base for some runs on Turkey Day!

Kent the technology has gotten really good on covering a bare hill in a short time, we open 11/22 top to bottom after three days for below freezing weather..they can cover an acre an hour, and will open 37 acres of skiing after just a couple of days of snow making machines going. Cool huh.

I skied today on eastern snow...but in Colorado! All man made at this point, but we hope for snow this weekend. Last year it didn't snow until Thanksgiving, but it didn't stop until June!
