I Accepted Sarah Coopers Challenge

Back in March Sarah Cooper put forth a challenge to us, Make Someone Smile Challenge (Yes, I Mean It), does anyone remember this post? Sarah, I actually remembered it this morning when I realized I met your challenge during our recent St. Jude events without even trying.  Sarah challenged us to go out of our way to put a big smile on someones face just because we can. If you've not read her post please do so, it will put a smile on your face too.

While Mickey Jones was in town for our St. Jude events we were at the Iron Horse, he was playing horse shoes with the regulars and I was snapping photos. A long time friend of mine, Black Jack, who works at the Iron Horse as head of security during the events and cook through out the year was also there. I introduced Black Jack to Mickey, of course Mickey remembered meeting Jack the year before and they chatted a bit. (I don't know how Mickey does it, but he really does remember all the folks he meets) Jack then asked me if I thought Mickey would take a photo with Jack while sitting on Jacks bike while Jack was standing next to him. Mickey to me is not a actor, he is a man who acts for a living, in other words, he would rather drive himself around, go to Krystal Burger and Cracker Barrel to eat. He loves talking to his fans and posing for photos. I asked Mickey about the photo and of course he said yes, walked over with Jack to the bike and took the photo. Jack was tickled, he asked if I could make him a 8X10 so he could hang it in his garage, and wanted to pay! I said no Jack, this doesn't cost me a thing.

I cropped it closer then this, then sent it via internet to Walgreens photo center to be printed on glossy paper. I picked it up and it came out so nice! I never had one of my prints look so good before. I took it with me to the radio station the next morning for the Interview and asked Mickey to sign it, Mickey didn't even have to ask me Jacks name, he just signed away.

I brought the photo to the Iron Horse the next day (we had our Bikes and Blues With Mickey Jones Ride there) and gave it to Black Jack when he arrived. He pulled the photo out of the sleeve and saw that Mickey had signed it his eyes lit up and a huge smile crossed his face as he said "You even had him sign it!" and gave me a huge hug and a kiss on the cheek.

That my friends is what it is all about, making others smile. Thank you Sarah for this challenge. I'm glad I accepted it.
