Ben just pushed up a big round of enhancements to our live servers.  Here's a run-down of the major ones...

1. Added the last 10 (public) featured blog postings to the front page.  A few people had commented that they had originally though ActiveRain was simply a real estate directory, so by putting some posts on the front page that may help the perception.

2. Enabled geo-targetting of the 2 featured profiles on the front page.  Basically we're going to try to display the two top scoring agents in the state that the person viewing the page is in.  It's not going to perfect but it should help give many more members exposure to their target audience.

3. We added an image upload component to our blog/profile editing control.  You can now upload and host your images on ActiveRain in one step without having to use a third party like imageshack or flickr.  Simply use the green tree icon ("add image") like before but you'll see a icon next to the "Image Src" allowing you to browse and upload an image from your computer.  This should simplify life for a lot of people.

4.  Updated the settings page to make it easier to understand.

5. Added a page to show the top ranked bloggers by state

Thanks for the changes--not all of which I have had the chance to explore--ESPECIALLY the image uploading tool! That's a wowee!

Thanks for your dedication to improving a great site! The image hosting will be a big timesaver. Are there any guidelines to file sizes for images?

Thanks guys, especially for the picture load feature... you inspire ME to go the extra mile with what I do.  I just wish I had more time to do them all. Can you help with that too? LOL

Two Thumbs UP!  So happy to drop the extra step on loading to photobucket.  And, what is not to like about the geocoding?

Thank you for continual great work guys.  I really appreciate it.

I just accessed the main Active Rain page and was pleasantly "startled" to find myself as part of the featured agents for our state.  The geo feature is definitly working from here.

Thank you for your efforts of increasing our exposure to Internet viewers that are looking for qualify, professional real estate resources, services and support.

Good job!

Thanks for letting us upload photos! It's going to make it much easier to fill our post with helpful images. Which will benefit everyone at AR in the long run!

Adding some featured blogs to the home page may be the best move of the bunch as far as generating traffic and expanding the network. It looks much less directoryish now.

You guys are wicked smart!

The geocoding is cool too.

And the photo upload

And... kiwi!

Help need info. I have worked with uploading photos to the blog. However it is still unclear to me on how the appearance  works. As I like to have the photo to the left of the frame with the text aliening up to the right of the photo. When I click under appearance  the top button, it still will not let me alien the text to the right of the photo. It drops the text to the bottom of the photo. Is there someplace on Active Rain that I can find more training on the inserts.

Thank you.
