Stop Already, Get the fire back under your bum!!

By
Real Estate Agent with Pulte Homes

Every day I run into complaining agents about today's market. Enough already. Stop being lazy and get the fire back under your bum!! The business is out there, you have to work, work work!! But it is there. I work for the top Firm in The Greater Hudson Valley of New York. PRUDENTIAL RAND REALTY.  The tools and the education that we get as Realtors are incredible. Now if you have a plan just work it your worth it , to work it! Get it, don't be lazy. Dress for success, go to the office and do the work. That simple. Real Estate is always going to be around. Now is the window of opportunity to buy. You need to educate people you speak with and stop listening to the media. Check out our Rand Blog section, written by our own Greg Rand.

It's not easy to stay positive when the stock market hits a 5 year low.  I agree with you, however.  If the business isn't coming to you, go get the business.

Take care.

Isabella, you are correct - there is work out there.  Many are 'doom and gloom' but we see it as a challenge with opportunity behind every door.

Too many people got into this business when their respective markets were "hot" and now they have no idea how to actually sell real estate.  Sad, but very true.

Isabella - While I see how easy it is to get bummed (just wrote about it recently), I am one of those that does my best to push through that feeling and move along.  Well, my hard work is paying off.  Things have been picking up for me and it certainly helps make me more positive.  Good things always help with that.  Good to hear others that are working hard to not get caught up in the bad news.

Isabella,

You are so right! I am tired of the "dome & gloom" too. You have to prospect , prospect , prospect.  It's not going to come to you--you have to go get it.

Today I attended my local WCR chapter monthly meeting and it was about business planning. You have to "Plan to work and Work your plan". Most agents who have only been in the business 5 years or less have not been trained to prospect and how to get business. Those agents who want to continue to make Real Estate there career will run it like a business. Will work it every day, will get what my broker calls "belly to belly" with people who can buy or sell Real Estate.  We won't have to hear the doom and gloom for long...most of those agents will be out of the business shortly.

Hi~ Thanks for the great post. Having a positive attitude everday can do great things for our personal lives as well as our day to day business. I agree that the business is out there, we just need to know where to look and to approach clients with the right attitude.

Thanks for the encouragement!  If I feel a little bad, I try not to complain to anyone outside of the business, I don't want to perpetuate theories of how, when, where and why.  I wish everyong would quiet down about the state of the economy so the economy can just churn, we would all be better off.
