Colorado Bus Service with stops/Ute Pass

The Ute Pass Express is a new commuter bus service in the area. Finally, not all Woodland Park residents have to drive to work. Almost 50% of Woodland Park residents commute to Colorado Springs on a daily basis. The new service will provide stops in Woodland Park, Cascade, Green Mountain Falls, Manitou Springs and Colorado Springs.

The Ute Pass area project is a two year 1.2 Million pilot program of Mountain Metro. Transit.  The new program will include 15 trips a day during the week. Woodland Park Visitors Guide

Maybe if it popular the transit authority might add some weekend slots.  Many Woodland Park residents may soon be able to give up their daily commute to Colorado Springs. Many Colorado Springs residents can take the bus up the pass and enjoy the many local shops, restaurants and festivals. The program will hopefully also offset some the emissions created by high traffic patterns in the area.

The Woodland Park stop will provide two areas to catch the bus. Catch one at the Ute Pass Cultural Center Park and Ride hub and the other one outside the Wal-Mart store at the corner of Hwy. 24 and Morning Sun.

Fares are currently $4.00 one way.

$120.00 for a 40 ride ticket$68.00 for a 20 ride ticket

$36.00 for a 10 ride ticket

 Additional Special rate include:

Cash fare for Senior Citizens (60 & over), children (6-11), students (12-high school), and

Medicare/Disabled passengers is $2.00.

A reduced fare of $2.50 is available for any travel to/from Cascade including: Cascade to/ from Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs, Green Mountain Falls, or Woodland Park.

If you don’t often use Public Transit you may not know that:

Passengers must provide exact fare or pre-purchased ticket when boarding. Ute Pass Express operators do not carry cash and are unable to issue change.

I am still not loving my blog appearance. Any suggestions on a font style and size that is consistently good would be be appreciated.

I think this is a great benefit for those who are commuting.  I wish we had something like this in Southern New Hampshire.  We have to take our car everywhere!

I don't know if you've actually used the Ute Pass Express or not, but I tried it the week it started, and it was great!  I wonder why we didn't get this sooner.  Each trip I've ridden with 4 or 5 others, but I sure hope it catches on, I like the savings.  One side comment though, because most of my business is at the board of Realtors in the city, I get off the shuttle bus, which is great, and get on the DASH (downtown free shuttle bus) to go to PPAR.  It's pretty gross, and smells bad.  It's free, so I suppose homeless people just hang out there all day.

All in all, the shuttle idea is terrific.  I've been driving these icy roads for my whole life, so trusting someody else may be a challenge but I'll try!

Hope to see you on the shuttle someday

I am excited to hear about the number of people in Woodland Park using the new service. I am disappointed to hear that the DASH is quick and free but not entirely sanitary. I will have to try that route next time I need to do some business at PPAR.
