Day 14 of 29 still finds me suffering the flu.  I had to travel into the City for a Real Estate course this morning even tho it was the last thing I felt like doing.  While I was in there, I decided to go to a wonderful fruit and veg shop after the course was completed.  They have every type of fruit you can imagine and unbelievable quality too.

I felt badly that I possibly passed on my flu to my Mother so I decided to buy her loads of fresh fruit and fill her full of vitamins!!   While in the shop, I noticed an elderly lady with a walker, having great difficulty getting around and selecting her produce.  She looked to be about my Mother's age and quite frail.  I asked her if she would allow me the honour of assisting her today and went on to explain that I would hope someone would do the same for my own Mother.   She thought this was a great idea and we had a lovely time, chatting and discussing the merits of the fruit. She was full of fun once she got her second wind and made the funniest comments about what we observed in the shop.   She allowed me to carry her bags to the car and to assist her with her walker getting stowed in the back.  Her husband had stayed in the car because he couldn't get around as easy as his wife, he told me!   Yikes!!!

While I was driving home, I was quite thankful that my only complaint was this miserable flu that won't let go.  I'm surviving on cold & flu meds that I don't normally take because I believe in letting it run its course.  However, at the moment I have to be out and about, looking as presentable as I can be with red, runny eyes, skin the colour of parchment and a cough that would scare a seal !    I am one fortunate lady if that's all that is wrong with me.  That elderly couple had me worried the whole way home, wondering how they were going to get all their fruit and veg into their house!

Anyways, it was a minor little thing to help someone with groceries but it was my gift for today.  Join me tomorrow and maybe I'll be strong enough to do something wonderful!!!

Susan, that flu must be one of those that hang on forever. My husband has had a really bad cough for 3 weeks now.

My gifts today- I went to the YMCA for a yoga class and saw they're starting a food drive. I'll be bringing in canned goods tomorrow!  In yoga we often have to think or "dedicate" our class for something we're grateful for- because of our ability to move our bodies while other may not have that ability. I gave mine to my son, who's sick, and the other here on the Rain who have asked for prayers for friends.

Good work today for you! Even feeling really bad, to help an elderly person was nice. And you were rewarded with a new friend and a nice time.

Feel better tomorrow.

Susan,

Sounds like you already did something wonderful today, right?

You helped a deserving lady with her bags and gave her the gift of friendship in the midst of it all!  Northing could be better.

I'm proud of you being all sick and all...YOU GO GIRL!

Linda -  I hope your son is on his way to recovery soon!   I really like the idea from your Yoga class;  it hits home when we realize there are others who are unable to move at all, doesn't it!!    The food drives always needs us and that is such a rewarding gift to give;  sustenance!   You are doing so well with your 29 days  . . .  I am proud to be on this journey with you!
