Getting Hitched....in a week.....in Mexico

I live in Hawaii so I had a hard time finding a better place to get married than where I currently live.  I am from Texas so us traveling to Texas for a wedding there did not make much sense since you would not want to take twenty people from Hawaii to Texas just for a wedding.  We ended up deciding on a resort in Mexico called Dreams Tulum.  Has anyone been? I have heard it is great for weddings.

We will then go on a honeymoon to El Dorado Royale, which is supposed to be the best down there, but since it was not kid friendly we did not choose that one for the wedding.  Have you been there?

Anyway, aside from all the "busy stuff" of getting married, I have found a wonderful woman and am looking forward to spending the rest of my life with her.

We have not been where you are going. But if it is anything like other areas of Mexico it should be great. We will be in Mazatlan the first week of December, the people in Mexico are very warm and friendly. Congrats on your upcoming wedding.

Rob- Congratulations! That is awesome that you are getting married. I lived in Hawaii for 5 years and also got married there to my x. Nothing beats Hawaii. I have been almost all over the world and if I could choose anyplace to live, it would be to go back to Hawaii. Katerina

I just got back from Mexico and spent a week Scuba diving about 20 miles south of Cancun in a little town called Puerto Morelos.  Tulum is another 100 miles or so.  The entire Yucatan is amazing.  You have unbelievably gorgeous blue waters, and beaches. There are also many fun nature and aquatic parks you can scuba, snorkel, swim with dolpins etc.. You can Scuba along that entire stretch from Cancun to Tulum, not to mention Cozumel off the coast which you can take a quick boat trip from Playa Del Carmen, which is about 40 miles south of Cancun.  Playa is one of the fastest growing cities in the world, and a nice spot to spend the day shopping.  I went to one of the Mayan ruins in Tulum about 15 years ago and it was amazing.  You have all kinds of amazing Mayan ruins throughout the Yucatan, inlcuding Chitza Nitza which is a pyramid in the middle of the Yucatan.  Also, this last time I was there I went to visit one of the many Cenotes, which are underground lakes and rivers that you can explore via caves.  It was very a very mystical experience.   Tulum would be perfect in that you have access to all of this within a couple hours (rent a jeep) and you are away from the touristy areas of Playa and Cancun.  There are amazing places to rent on the ocean, although you will now pay higher seasonal rates, but I highly recommned Tulum for a honeymoon hideaway, or just a nice relaxing vacation.  The Yucatan in Mexico is one of the best vacation spots in the world in my opinion.

Good luck with your sweetie!

Michael,

Thanks for the good response.  We stayed at Playa del Carmen back in 2000 and that was nice and I heard Tulum was a little quieter area and that is why we chose that.  We plan to go to the ruins and ziplining.  We are looking forward to it.
