Bail out the Auto Industry? Yeah Right! Just like we should bail out homeowners who are losing their homes!

I have been reading the articles on the net the last couple of days how these poor auto execs are begging Congress to bail them out of their horrible situation.  They want congress to bail them out with the taxpayers money.  To them it does not matter that they have so much waste, ungodly ceo compensations, and companies that have overhead that would sink any battleship!

Earlier this year you had consumers wanting to be bailed out of their mortgage issues because they could not pay the mortgage each month!  It must be the mortgage companies fault that they can't pay it so its the governments responsibility I guess to bail them out of their high payment mortgage!

All of this is absolute hogwash!  We have all lost all sense of personal responsibility!  Everything we do we must take personal responsibility for.  We have to look ourselves in the mirror and live with the decisions we have made.  Some are good and some are bad decisions but we learn from each one.  I feel like these people are actiing like little children blaming everyone else for their actions instead of themselves.

We have got to stop looking to government for handouts whether it be for the auto industry or home mortgages or any other industry for that matter.  Lets all take personal pride and know that we all can take responsibility for ourselves and our loved ones and make the best decisions possible in each phase of our personal and financial lives.  If you make a bad decision that is ok, learn from it and choose again but don't blame someone else for the outcome.  Until next time....

Hi, Peter. There are some very compelling reasons for the government to bail out the auto industry that have nothing to do with rewarding the industry's waste, outrageous CEO compensation, severe shortsightedness and utter greed. These reasons include the hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions, of auto workers' and auto suppliers' jobs that would be lost if the industry goes under. Not to mention the devastating impact on the U.S. steel industry. I'm not a proponent of government handouts, but this issue involves a much bigger picture than mere personal responsibility. I can only pray that our elected representatives be given the wisdom to do whatever averts disaster for the most people and for our country's future.

Not compelling enought to spend 25 billion dollars of tax payers money.  That is what a free enterprise does it allows businesses to succeed and to fail.  The government is not in the business of bailing out companies.  Let the market shake itself out.  Someone will come up with a better car company that is more efficient in its operation.  If the government bails companies out and does not allow them to fail we do not have a free enterprise system anymore.  We would then be in a socialistic society.  Until next time...
