TWITTER TUTORIAL 101 - What Next? Part 2
How to figure out Twitter? That is the question. For some curious reason the learning curve seems to be (is) steep. But once you are in, you wonder why it was so difficult in the first place.
If you missed Part 1 - The Beginning click here to read how to get started.
PART 2
Now you are following and being followed (where is everybody going?) - then what?
1. What are you doing? - BOX
Type in something, and click on UPDATE button. (piece of cake)
If you do not see your update showing up underneath the What are you doing box? Refresh by clicking HOME button on top.

2. Who is twittering and about what? Click on the HOME tab on top of the screen to get fresh updates (tweets)
The updates show up right underneath the box "What are you doing?" Scroll through some tweets and see if anything interests you.
3. Reply to somebody's tweet When you find something you would like to comment on or REPLY to move your mouse over that tweet (the background color changes to a slightly darker gray) and you will see two things pop up on the right hand side: A star and below it, an arrow.
Click on the arrow
You will see the person's username show up in the - What are you doing? box -
e.g. @kennarealestate (@ tells me, everybody else that you are replying to my tweet)

Type in the box what you would like to say or comment on and Click on REPLY button
e.g. @jasoncrouch I totally agree.
Now, since Jason might have gone on a tweet frenzy and have several conversations going on at the same time (very likely). He may not have a clue what I am referring to with my comment???
For that reason it is courteous (not mandatory by any means) to mention some how, some way on your reply what it is that you are referring to. So a better reply from me to Jason would be...
@jasoncrouch worst ever song - I totally agree.
Repeat @ replies, as many times, to as many people as you would like and there you go...
Same thing if somebody replies to you, hover over their reply tweet to you and click on arrow...
4. Direct Message DM - Help!
You should receive an e-mail when somebody sends you a direct message via Twitter.
Before going into how to send one, there are a few instances that can take you to DM.
1. If you are in deep twittering with somebody it may be better to take it to DM. Not necessary for everybody else to see/read what the two of our are twittering about
2. You need to send a quick personal message to somebody
3. You want to send out a quick thank you for a new follower (this can be done manually or you can set up an auto responder - see Jeremy Blanton's post for more info on that)
For right now I like to do this manually and I try to say something that is not just generic... I use their name (if I know it) etc.
My DM for a new follower could be something like (I am referring to a person from AR on the example)
Hi Jodi, nice to 'meet' you here too. Thank you for following. Looking forward to your tweets. Have a great weekend. ~Rita
OK, How do you DM
CLICK on Direct Message (side bar on the right). If there is a number following Direct Message that means you have so many DM's waiting for you

Hover over the DM you want to reply to. You see an envelope with an arrow on it to the right. Click it. Now on the box above it says the DM is going to that person.

Type in the message and send.
5. Another way to send a DM (oh, no...)
If you want to DM somebody but you don't have a DM from them click on the drop down menu above the blank box
Send _____________ Direct Message to:
Find the person you want to DM, type your message and send.
Note. If the person is not following you, you can't send them a DM.

6. HOORAY! COMPLETION OF PART 2!
Now click on the home tab again to see what is going on right now.
PART 3: How to do find some top dogs to follow + search twitter (important tool for real estate)
See you there! CLICK on the Birdie to find us on twitter
