THE CHICAGO IL REAL ESTATE MARKET, AND OTHER THINGS CHICAGO, FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF A LITTLE WHITE DOG!
Good Morning, you dogs! It's just after 8:00 AM here in Chicago, so my cell phone is turned back on, in case you need to reach me.
You may also send me a text message, but, sometimes, even my little paws are too big to reply quickly, or accurately.
Every year all across Chicago, hundreds of dogs and cats become lost, and separated from their home and their owners that love them so much. Unfortunately, a few of us canines and felines don't make it. Others do come back home - sometimes weeks or months later. Most, however, end up at the local shelter or pound.
How can your humans minimize the chances that you'll be lost? Here are a few tips to Chicago Pet Owners, from the website ChicagoLostPets.org -
1. Keep a collar on your dog or cat. The tag should include your human's name and phone number, as well as your own name. Common sense, you dogs - you greatly increase your chances of being returned home, if the finder knows where you live. Yes?
2. Implant a micro-chip in your pet. I know, you dogs - this sounds like it's going to hurt a bit. But most vet clinics and many police stations can scan the chip and know where you should be returned to. The cost is minimal to your humans.
3. Have dogs or cats spayed or neutered. This shouldn't scare you, folks! I'm a neutering survivor, yet I still like to hang with the babes. Neutering also subdues us dogs natural roving instinct when it comes time for us to look for that "special someone."
4. Maintain complete pet information. This would include a recent color picture of us dogs or cats, as well as specific information about our name, size, and personality. Many owners who had this pet info on file during recent hurricane disasters down south got their beloved pets back quickly.
5. Never be unattended, or tied up, outdoors. There are crime rings in Chicago that make a living ransoming us pets. Stop them cold before they can act - keep an eye on us - always!
6. Watch out for "Stranger Danger!" Strange human lurkers asking information on neighborhood pets and their breeds are often a dead giveaway that they may be nefariously looking for certain animals. Report folks like this to the police, promptly!
The website also offers tips for Chicagoans who have lost their pets - how to post flyers, what to include on them, when to call the police and local animal shelters, and how to search for found pets online, using websites like PetFinder.com and Pets911.org.
There is also a link to Chicago Area Pet Shelters and Rescue Organizations.
So, PLEASE, you dogs - make sure your humans are careful this winter, and they don't lose you. Even though we all have good coats or soft fur - it can get pretty cold out there in Chicago during the winter.
