One might wonder if nature and a subdivision could go hand in hand? I say yes as I took this picture of the longhorn next to "The Ranch at Brushy Creek" Subdivision in Round Rock Texas. There was actually a small herd of about 12-15 longhorns. "The Ranch at Brushy Creek" is a fairly new development that is surrounded by a heavily wooded ranch and a creek.

In 1851 the 1st settlement in the area was along the banks of Brushy Creek. thus the settlement was named Brushy creek. Along the banks of the settlement was a distinct Round Rock, In 1854 the settlement was renamed Round Rock.

Danny - Are the Longhorns there to keep the grass trimmed?  Love the price of the houses, wish I could have a few of those at that price in my market.

Jennifer The Longhorn was about 20-25' away from me when I first got there. He started coming my direction and got to about 5' away. For awhile I thought he was going to let me pet him! Move down here and you can sell all the homes you want.

Danny, love the pictures.  Glad you weren't maimed while snapping the longhorn =)

You've got a lot of great info and links here.  Good work.  Lennar has a good reputation here I just wish we could get that gorgeous home at that price over here.  Maybe you can ship me a couple?  We can split the profit.  =)

Danny- Your housing prices just stun me... but then I understand that the taxes on homes in Texas are pretty stunning considering the prices.. so what would the taxes run on a $350,000 home and do they go up each year or stay static for a period..

Inquiring minds want to know..

Maggie, I could ship it one brick at a time! Hey I grew up around cattle...they don't bite! Where have you been lately? I haven't seen any blogs etc.

Kaye, the taxes vary from community to community. In Round Rock they are about $2.53134 for every $100 of appraised value. However we are a Homestead State and they will knock off your taxes X amount for that purpose. Also keep in mind we have no State Income tax. Our overall taxes are the 14th lowest of all 50 states.
