Have I mentioned that the El Tour de Tucson is today Saturday, November 22nd here in Tucson??!!

Volunteering yesterday at the El Tour de Tucson Bicycle Expo, my registration partner and I talked about everything and anything as the day went on.  During a break, I asked if he worked and he said he is retired.  In turn he asked what I did.  After saying, "I am a Realtor..." - he responded by saying,

"So you are retired as well!"

I got a kick out of his comment and as he talked about the terrible real estate market, I used it as an opportunity to list a few reasons why I am not a retired real estate agent:

1)  People will always need a place to live - and many want to buy a home or upgrade from the home they currently live in.  They aren't throwing themselves at me anymore like they were years ago - SO TODAY, I just have to challenge myself and find ways to stand out and be an obvious target for those people.

2)  I really do love meeting and getting to know people!  Showing them homes is a bonus!  SO TODAY, I am enjoying meeting and getting to know people.  In time, their business will be the bonus!

3)  I was at my last job for a long time - and left because the company went out of business after 15 years.  I didn't jump ship when things got bad or "chase down rainbows" when I didn't get that huge pay raise. I stayed because I loved the job!  SO TODAY, it may not be a booming real estate day for me, but I am knocking out another year of doing something that I love!

4)  I see my real estate career like LIFE: I've got a plan and the only way to stick to IT is by GOING THROUGH IT!  Retiring from real estate would be like retiring from life for me.  SO TODAY - I am working towards a long plan of living.

5)  I started my "work" morning in PJs. During my coffee break, I changed into cycling clothes to ride in the El Tour de Tucson.  SO TODAY, I'll be out at an all day conference with nearly 8200 cyclists - exercising, having fun and networking. What other job would give me this luxury?!
