We all want to be part of a special
business mastermind group to help teach us the latest and greatest tricks of the trade, but how do you go about choosing the right one for you?
Generally speaking I would say look for someone in your industry vertical that has achieved some measure of success first of all. If they're going to be a leader of a business mastermind group then it would be a good thing if they can prove they've actually mastered the business! This may not always apply though especially if the business mastermind group is relevant to your business but not actually part of it. Say for instance you went to a business mastermind group that was all about referral networking. While they may not have experience in the real estate market, they may be a master networker, which could definitely positively impact your business.
One of the other things to look at is the size of the group. For me personally, I learn much better in a small group environment. If the business mastermind group is composed of hundreds of people then while it may be a great place to do networking, it's not the greatest place for me to learn any new techniques. I don't know, maybe I'm just a slow learner, but it really helps me to have interaction as opposed to just being lectured to. When I go to a business mastermind group and there's only a dozen or so people there, I end up getting the most out of it.
The other thing I want to get out of a business mastermind group is a few phone numbers of people that are involved so I can follow up with any tough calls that I may need to make. It sometime helps to bounce ideas off of people you have come to know and respect through a good business mastermind group.
I guess though most of all I want to feel a little uncomfortable, like I have to think outside my box in order to get what they are saying. If it's too familiar then I'm not really learning anything. I like being pushed slightly and made to think a little more to know that it's worth my time to be there.
Let me know if this helped you choose a
business mastermind group.
Small group learning and sharing of ideas works best for me also!
