One way to get more referrals...

As a member of BNI in Columbus, Ohio (Leading Edge), I have been able to help the Real Estate Professional in my group get a lot of business by helping them delve into the REO/Bank Owned area.  The slot in our group that I fill is for Handymen.  By offering her the ability to provide Property Preservation Services, she is able to get listings and manage those properties through my company and we both benefit.  If you have a handyman in your group, have them explore the Property PReservation field...which will help you expand your listing abilities and even your abilities to service your potential listings even more by incorporating those handyman functions into your services.  This year alone, I have been able to help my agent gain 15 additional listings and also increased my business by expanding into an area I wasn't familiar with prior.  I believe I have been able to pass over $20k in closed referrals to my agent alone and have received over $8k in closed business through her because of adding these services to my company.

Check it out...its worth the time and effort.

I don't get the chance to refer the Realtor's (residential and commercial) in our group often. Most of the time the referrals get passed TO me from the Realtor.

However, once in a while I will do an inspection for a client buying from a FSBO, and the inspection does not go well. I then have the opportunity to ask the question, "Don't you have a professional realtor looking out for YOUR interests? I know a really good one, if you need one."

I always carry my BNI card file into the house when I am doing the inspection. it's a great chance to pass referrals.
