Have you heard of Typealyzer.com?  This free online utility analyzes your blog and based on your writing style tells you what kind of person you most likely are.  I’m usually rather skeptical about these sorts of applications but since it was free I decided to give it a shot.

After just typing in the web address to my ActiveRain blog Typealyzer.com provided  me with my analysis.

According to Typealyzer.com I’m an ESTP – The Doers.

“The Doers are happiest with action-filled work which craves their full attention and focus. They might be very impulsive and more keen on starting something new than following it through. They might have a problem with sitting still or remaining inactive for any period of time.”

I did a little side research on ESTP on Google and I was surprised to see that this personality type describes me almost exactly.

I’ve never heard of ESTP or any other personality types so if anybody has any information on how I can learn more I would be very interested.

What does Typealyzer.com say about you and your blog?

Hi Justin, the personality types they use on that site are the Myers-Briggs inventory, based on Carl Jung's personality types. They break each person down based on 4 spectrums: introvert vs. extrovert, intuition vs. sensing, feeling vs. thinking, and perception vs. judging. You can take a quix to find out your type here! Yay for using my psych major, lol.

As for me, I think that site was way off! It said I was an EFTJ (Guardian). I've taken the real test before and I always come out as an INFP... very different! Interesting that it seemed to work so well for you. :-)

Hi Justin -- Thanks for sharing this website.  It says I am a Doer, just like you!

"The active and play-ful type. They are especially attuned to people and things around them and often full of energy, talking, joking and engaging in physical out-door activities.

The Doers are happiest with action-filled work which craves their full attention and focus. They might be very impulsive and more keen on starting something new than following it through. They might have a problem with sitting still or remaining inactive for any period of time."

Ciao~

That was fun.  Mine is ESTP also.  I do have problems sitting still for long periods of time.  I hate meetings.

It says I'm an ISTJ (Duty Fulfiller).  I've taken the Myers-Briggs test too, but it was at least ten, maybe fifteen years ago.  I know I've grown and changed quite a bit since that time, but I seem to remember being quite the opposite.  Still a neat site though.  I do see some of those qualities in myself.

Justin, as soon as I read your post I was intrigued....Wow just amazing what the internet, technology and analysis can do. Now I need to go to this quizz...nothing like an amateur psychologist or as they say a fool, but it is fun. Thank you for your post.

Thanks for sharing this interesting tool, Justin! I'm very analytical, and I do write a lot of market reports on my blog, so I'll see if Typealyzer agrees.

I refuse to take it on the grounds that it might incriminate me -- LOL.

Hey Greg! I figured that several members on AR would be doers.  Your brain chart at the bottom of the results was a little different than mine even though we were in the same category.

John -- I think typealyzer will agree I've been impressed with how well it has matched many people to their writing styles.

Interesting - I did it twice, with different results:  Doer the first time & Guardian the second.  Hmmm...about 3 seconds for each.

Justin - This is interesting, but I a little concerned about what they might do with my information? Maybe it's like a Big Brother thing. I get a little weird about this stuff and even some of my blogs I put out, I could always change my name though if I needed to.

Kent -- That is a strange I've never seen it give one person two different results. Could be a glitch.
