How is it that the most inane stuff posted gets comments? Smiley faces adorn posts that have absolutely nothing to do with real estate or worse yet, nothing to do with anything.
What is the appeal? You may remember the Seinfeld show. It was touted as the show that was about nothing.
It was funny and reruns will go on forever, I suppose.
There was no deep thought necessary. You tuned in and "out" and watched a show that might be about getting to a parking space first, Elaine's big head or Jerry's girlfriend with the big hands or getting a bowl of that special soup from the soup Nazis. Real non-heavy issues.
I mean they could do a show on a rock growing moss and we'd tune in to watch it grow; and we laughed.
Seinfeld allowed us to see the idiosyncratic in ourselves. Yes, this could be us, worrying about keeping a clean, neat dirt free apartment which was periodically invaded by the likes of a cereal stealing Kramer who had no respect for Jerry's boundaries.
Maybe that's the service some of the post we see do for us.
So, I think harmless blogging with no point at all can be liberating and entertaining. It gets us away for awhile, at least-- from what can be the day-to-day grind.
If only for a moment or two, for both writer and reader, it's blogging-recess, Seinfeld style. I think this might be one of those posts I mentioned in the first paragraph...but I am not sure.

Good point. Perhaps everyone reads the serious blogs, but only comment on the friviolous ones. I love the video.
