DAY 17 was a good busy day with lots accomplished both work wise and home wise.  I wasn't too sure about how I was going to manage my 17th gift with so much going on.  I was leaning in an entirely different direction when it hit me.  I had some listing papers to get signed and then I was planning on stopping off at home to throw something in the oven for our dinner guests,  before heading out again.  When I arrived at my client's home I discovered they were unable to re-arrange or stage their home as we had discussed.  They are elderly and a little stressed over the whole downsizing idea.  Their family is not in the area and are only able to call and offer moral support.

I decided to help them out and do it myself.  It wasn't anything major that was needed, just re-arranging furniture for better flow and decluttering for the most part.  But it was something they couldn't do on their own.  I kept them involved and included and the afternoon just flew by.   As I put the last container away in the garage I realized the time, and quickly switched to Menu B in my head -   my guests would be arriving in less than 40 minutes and I was a dusty mess!

Going back into the house, I was able to take the final photos and I also took one of my clients, looking far happier at what "they" had accomplished!   Driving home, I was chuckling to myself at the parting  comment my client made to me.  She said, "Now that the house looks so nice, you'll have to come back and work on the garage"!!

When I finally got home, I managed to throw together a respectable meal but wasn't able to post this til this morning.    Stay tuned for today's gift!

Thanks for cheering me on Bo!   I am realizing more and more that 'gifts' don't have to cost us anything other than a little thought and preparation.  Yes, there are times that there will be some money involved, but that is a choice I'm making.    From Wikipedia:

A gift or present is the transfer of something, without the need for compensation that is involved in trade. A gift is a voluntary act which does not require anything in return. Even though it involves possibly a social expectation of reciprocity, or a return in the form of prestige or power, a gift is meant to be free.

In many human societies, the act of mutually exchanging money, goods, etc. may contribute to social cohesion. Economists have elaborated the economics of gift-giving into the notion of a gift economy.

By extension the term gift can refer to anything that makes the other happier or less sad, especially as a favour, including forgiveness and kindness

That pretty much sums up what we should be doing on a daily basis with a focused and concentrated effort . . .  anything to make another less sad!
