Unleash Your Real Estate A Game and Score A Cyber Monday Touchdown

How will you be attracting consumers to your website doorstep a week from tomorrow?  Retailers will be hawking their wares with style and fanfare on CyberMonday to take advantage of the traffic flow, and with good reason,

"...Marketing executives also anticipate that online sales for "Cyber Monday," the first Monday after Thanksgiving, will grow by 2.4 percent this year"-BusinessWire.

crush the box

Let's put this in perpsective.  This will be a  2.4 percent increase over the 72 million people who shopped online on Cyber Monday 2007. according to the National Retail Federation.

You don't have to be a retailer to make this traffic work for you.  It's time to get hyperlocal and you have 7 days to get your game plan on before Cyber Monday makes its way to a home computer near you.  Here's a real estate playa plan for savvy real estate pros.

Launch a contest for the best decorated neighborhood block for the holiday season.   The blocks can go by a theme from neighbor to neighbor, or they can just go hog wild.  Whichever option they choose, neighbors will be pulling together to get their neighborhood dressed for contest success and you will have been the instigator.

Get Local shopowners involved through sponsorship.  Launch a seperate blog where shopowners can contribute by buying ad space from you to sponsor the contest.  You can include their ads as short posts on top gifts for the gift giving season and their specials.  Two top categories are Electronics and Gift Cards for consumers.

Advertise the smart and social way- Broadcast it on the Internet-Announce this contest on your website, write a blog post about it, podcast it, do an internet radio show on it. Advertise it offline in flyers, lawn signs, banners, and local newspapers.Get your local media involved.  Go over and beyond by writing an online press release, getting a spot on your local radio show to discuss the contest, and getting an article about the contest in your local newspaper.

local contest

Announce the winner in internet style- The prize should be a party, that will allow for more conversation and kindling of relationships.  Make it a pizza party from a local pizzeria who would like a piece of the action (translation to you: discount).

Take a percentage of the revenue from the local store owner ads and donate it to a local charity.  Many folks could use it with the unemployment numbers on the rise.

Make an Interet video with a Live UStream feed.   Write a blog post with details on the judging event and reaction from the participants.  Include plenty of photos and crosspost them to Flickr.  Include  a thank you to your local commerce sponsors with a link to a Last Minute Deals printable PDF for savvy local holiday bargain shoppers.

The key is to kick off the announcement on the Second Monday before Christmas to take advantage of  what has typically been the busiest online shopping day.

What do you get out of the deal?  Branding, community contact, community involvement, charitable contribution.  You can also get some shelf life if you play it right by offering CMAs and creative real estate services on the contest blog, just make sure it's more social and informative than spammy and self-serving.

Showing your marketing savvy and creative thinking puts a natural spotlight on your real estate skillz.

Any real estate professional can execute this A Game Plan.  A special twist for stagers- Offer a New Year's Eve Holiday staging package at a discount to be promoted on the contest site.

How exciting.  'Tis the season of giving and gratitude.  As a real estate marketer there are many opportunities for you to be grateful for....so let's get started and get your game on for Cyber Monday.

Crush the box..somebody's gonna do it and it should be you.

Great article, I'm finding more and more Realtors are taking branding themselves a little more seriously now that clients aren't falling out of trees.

Cheers

Christopher and Stephanie- No problem, you can still actually launch something in time for the biggest internet traffic holiday, 2 Monday's before Christmas.  Hopefully this provided some brainstorming fodder.  You are right, when your mind is open the possiblities are endless.

Amber- THANK you.  So glad to have you as a reader and conversationalist.

I like the idea of launching a contest, and then presenting it to the winner via a party.  Like you said, that way you get even more exposure, and can actually get to meet people face to face.
